I wouldn't. Going on the few hundred miles I have driven auto trannies, I despise them.

I drive an 09 auto. I would much rather have a stick, way more control especially in the snow. Its hard to back up because the clutches get hot and it starts to buck. The alarm starts to buzz and you better hurry up cause its about to shut down for a few. It left me hanging half way out of a parking spot one night at a truck stop. People were waiting and boy did I look like a jerk, had to turn off the cb....lol. Its like any other auto, sometimes it nice but over all I won't go that route again if I have a say so.

The newer autos are much smoother and more reliable. The 2010 is probably ok, just depends on how hard it's been run and how many miles are on it. I've read about there being some issues with durability in some autos.

We are right now running 8 2010 cascadias, all with Ultrashift. They do have some quarks, but overall they work pretty well. As far as control, you have EVERY bit as much control on that tranny that you have on a stick with the same number of gears.

It is basically the same tranny, only difference really is that one you HAVE to shift, the other you HAVE AN OPTION to shift or not.

Yes you can overheat the tranny if you are trying to back real slow at a very low speed, you will heat up the clutches, basically it's the trannies way of telling you, either step on the gas, or get off of it!!!

Most drivers fail to read the instructions on the tranny and most don't know that there IS a LOW gear option for backing. Biggest problem would be if you were backing around a corner, up hill, with a tall geared truck and a heavy load, as far as backing into a TS spot, it should NEVER be an issue.

The only other thing I can think of is the Ultrashifts can be a bit jerky when you are trying to back up against a dock and are trying to get that last 3 inches. They run a centrifugal clutch and it is either engaged, or it's not. The newer Ultrashift Pluses run a more conventional clutch and do not have that issue.
