One thing that I don't like about the prime lease is you never own the truck. You are basicly renting it and dumping money in it like you own it, but you will never see the title.:biggrin_2556: On the companies that you can buy it out on the ballon payment often it is so high that drivers have not put enough money back to make it and they have to turn it in or go through another lease.:biggrin_25524:

Hey guys! I got my 60k miles so I'm back to Springfield for ACE I on the 14th. WOO HOO!! They actually pulled me in early -miles will be posted next week - since I ran my trainer's rig for a week solo, and did it well.

If you're in Springfield, look for the fella wearing a baseball cap with a medicine wheel symbol on it.

I good thing about Primes lease is your driving a newer truck thats never 4 years or older (I think), plus if for ANY reason you need to quit (health issues, family issues, accident, etc.) its a WALK AWAY LEASE... If your leasing to buy, then your stuck with all the payments whether you drive or not. Plus, when your truck is paid off, your stuck with an old truck. I dont drive for Prime, (I thought about it tho) but if things go down hill in the trucking industry (economy is continueing downward), its sure nice to know you can just turn that truck in and walk away! I would hate to be stuck with weekly payments that seem to never end.

If you are leasing with anyone the payments are there if the truck is rolling or not. The truck you are saying you are stuck with when the lease is over is a truck you can sale or trade in. With prime after you are done paying for it they get it back.:biggrin_2556:

The thing about that nut lady back on page 30...

driver, leasing, owning, some guys just can't step up to the plate and play ball...

I worked in a hamburger stand as a kid, did the army, had my own business twice, worked in a factory, and am now driving and loving it.

lifes a journey and been a hoot... and all the places I have been there are a couple of real philosophic truths if you look for them.

    1) it's work, if it were disney land they'd charge admission instead of paying you.

    2) everywhere I've been, people say, "this sucks" and it does for them, while I smile and enjoy life and get paid for it.

It's all in the attitude... and having reasonable expectations.

Thumb sucking whine babies are never happy... "they gave me a paper sack full of hundred dollar bills, but I wanted a plastic bag... lousy company... whaaa..."

I guess I did, but I have a copy of their lease. They even tell you you will not keep the truck. They will give you a bonus for completing the lease, but still it is not as good as holding a tittle.

you can hold the lease, but do you want a 4+ year old truck? What if you got hurt on the job, or something happend to your family while your leasing your truck? Those payments keep adding up, like it or not... You can try and sell the truck, but good luck. Your responsible for those payments (driving or not). Prime has a deal that no one else has (that I know of) where you can walk away!.. When you turn your truck in, you get a NEW one (with Prime) instead of driving an old truck that needs tender loving care to carry on. I was against Primes Lease deal, but then I thought about everything that go's on in life and you are making the same amount of money whether your keeping or returning the truck... When driving you need a new reliable truck to make money, and Prime offer's this. Oh well. Just my own opinion. DRIVE SAFE

It really is a indviual descion, I agree with the majority here I like the idea of a walkaway lease. First because if finanical situations arises you get out of it, it does not affect your credit. Second I like the idea of having something new verses paying it off and dealing with a truck that will nickle and dime you death when you start racking up the miles on it. Third if i ever decided to get out of trucking I am not saddled with selling a old truck that I will probably lose money on. :biggrin_25513:

Thats my personal opinion, but if your someone who likes the idea of owning a truck and have the money to sink into it as it gets older then go for it. :biggrin_25520:
My husband and I plan on going to prime after my daughter starts college as we will be empty nesters with 30 yrs experince between the two of us We do not want to be saddled with owning a truck. As I also have a IT degree and planning on incorporating that knowlege into the trucking industry with a future business.
When we are ready to leave the road and pursue other ventures it will not be a hassel as we can just "Walk Away":biggrin_25524:
