I wonder why they are dragging their feet with your orientation date? I was told as soon as I could fax over some paperwork proving my former employment I would be scheduled rather quickly. Matter of fact when I first contacted them this last December, if all my paperwork woulda been straight, I would have a Mav truck in my driveway now!! Got another job offer in the wings right now tho, so I will sweat it out for another week b4 I schedule:biggrin_25515: orientation with Mav.

I was living closer to Jarret Va, then any other terminal, The only time I was there was when I gave them thier truck back. Living near Harrisburg,Pa I was in the Gary terminal more often then any other term. The guys who get home the most are in the middle of the shipping lanes, not on the fringes. For Mav thats like Tenn. and nearby areas. drive55cat

I run TX quite a bit, dallas, ennis, ft worth, etc. We go in quite a bit, but have a hard time getting freight out, Usually dead head out to get something. Long haul would not be bad. You will only be out 2 weeks. Better than some co's that leave you out 4-5 weeks. I like getting 900-1200 mile runs. Tarp and go. Better than tarping and running 300-400 miles and untarping. You want to make money. The money is in the stretch of miles, not tossing the tarps.:biggrin_25520:

Yeah If everything goes right I'll be starting school Feb 4. I told them that they could go ahead and call my present employer, Angie said that was the only thing she was waiting on. They called Wednesday. Sherry the dispatcher at my work told me on Thursday, Maverick called yesterday. I just smiled and said sorry Sherry. She smiled and said we hate to see u go but I understand the money isn't the best here. They were totally cool about it. They told me theres nothing wrong with trying to better yourself.

I see on your profile that you have 0-1 yrs experience. If you have less than 6months do you hafta go with a trainer for 1-2 weeks to see what you know? I'm sure NoTarps would know.

i actually have more experience but i put 0-1 on my profile because i only drive within 150 radius. as for the trainer i was told by the people at maverick that everyone goes out with a trainer and it is up to the trainer how long you need to be with him. so if you do well you may only be a week or as much as 6 weeks.
