Did they set up a Macro for that? They shouldn't even need you to call, you should be able to send a request for correction and forget about it. If they really wanted to they could set that up so that it goes directly to the email of whomever is working. Where I work they have that option or can call in to nights. They'll then assess the situation and if needed call me during the middle of night for a correction. It's not bad until the DOT wants logs faxed at 0130, that blows as typically my right fax isn't working so I need to save a copy then email it to nights so they can print and fax it. Then I freak out until like 0215 when I get the all clear, but I'm so amped up that I don't sleep until 0400, my alarm goes off at 0500 then I run reports until 0700 and then the kids wake up and things get real.

I actually asked about it. Nights can edit, days is safety. My worry was if you forget to go off duty but start at like 0400, then your screwed.Meltom Thanks this.

I'd never let nights edit logs, that's crazy. Puts them in a conflict of interest, oh well such is the way of the world. I like our setup, where it's actually safety personnel that does log edits after hours and weekends, and by personnel I mean me every single day 358 days of the year.Treefork Thanks this.

Well then, we just have to make sure you get that little umbrella in your Mai tai.
-
Excuse me? Excuse me, senor? May I speak to you please? I asked for a mai tai, and they brought me a pina colada, and I said no salt, NO salt for the margarita, but it had salt on it, big grains of salt, floating in the glass...DrtyDiesel, technoroom and Bayle Thank this.

Stayed at a dive truck stop last night. The big 84 at 59/84 in Mississippi. "Big lot" truck stop with ONE bathroom stall and nothing flushes. Everyone was opening the door closing it and saying dont bother find another stop hahha. Good thing our fuel stops only about an hour or so from here.

My point in the whole elogs thing is I should be able to ADD info or correct a previous incorrect line. I don't need the ability to edit back 7 days or anything like that. I just want the ability to edit the past 24, or even 12 hours. That gives me time to look and see, did I forget to go ON DUTY for loading, did I flag that vehicle's check or pre/post check. The same RIGHTS that anyone with a paper log has. Yes, the "book" says you are to be current up to your last duty change, but how hard is it on paper logs to verify? How many steps on elogs to verify? Just saying, and its my opinion... Thanks Wisconsin for screwing it up!
-
Trust me..elogs are way better than the messed up police reporting systems that are out there.
-
I wouldn't say you have a RIGHT to change a log. The ability, the option, but certainly not a right. My guess is that you lost the option as a whole because some people would edit away all of their on duty time to squeeze more time on their 70. It's much easier, and probably more cost effective, to just remove the option for everyone than it is to retrain the violators.

Just make it so you have to approve logs everyday, like dvir. Then you can't go back days and squeeze out minutes here and there.technoroom and Meltom Thank this.
