Listen to these guys They tried to lead me in the right direction but I got a thick head and did it my way, I no longer have a truck, and you would have more to lose, a friendship.

Go be a co driver first, then get ur truck. Lot more than cranking key and taking off. Do you even know how to back a 53? Is he going to be your trainer also? This one is kinda tough to see a good side to it.

These advices made me think a little bit more, however the plan I was thinking of, consisted in working with my friend for a least 6 months. after that I probably be ready to be on my own. I'm a mechanic and I have someone that can help me to find a good 500,000 mls truck for a good price. In this deal there is not partnership involved because it will be my truck and he will have his reefer. We will drive as a team. why he doesn't use his truck? because his truck and his reefer are getting to old for California requierements and as you guy know there are not too many drivers that want to drive OTR, he is going to have a local driver for his. He will have more advantage than me...course he will, however some how we have to pay for being a new guy in the block.
But I do apreciate your input
    Thank you guys.

Seems like your friend will get a reefer paid for and you get a worn out truck.

If you want to do this, just buy your own truck and trailer and get his wife to dispatch you. No point losing a truck AND a friend.

Buying a truck is not like buying a car, 500k may sound as a great thing but I know of a few million milers which are in a lot better shape than a lot of 500k milers I've looked at.
