Can someone break it down for me? I know sysco pays by the day n US foods pay by the hour for a few months then go to piece pay. Can someone help me understand it?

If your young and in shape you'll make bank if not look for a different job

Surprisingly, I have seen more young guys fail at food service then older guys, so that statement is not exactly true.landstar8891 Thanks this.

Thats exactly why i ignored him..how exactly does the piece pay break down is my question?
-
Not sure how Sysco or US does it but the last company I worked for(9 years there) paid piece, hub mileage, stop. Roll out full with 750 cases, 12 stops and 100 miles, you made out good. Only problem with pay like that, at the end of the run, divide your hours by your pay for the day and sometimes you think to yourself; "Why did I get out of bed this morning", lol. If you are fast, you can break that down though into a good hourly wage.

How much would u average a day?

I wish I could help but I can't. I can tell you that my wife works for Sysco foods in Los Angeles. She told me that she wouldn't advise anyone to work for Sysco. My wife is a Teamster Union clerical worker that has been there for 24 years.

Doing local, about 180-210 a day. 8-11 hour days. I learned real quick what routes paid. Routes with 10-18 stops and 600-800 cases paid, was not really concerned with miles running local.
Doing regional, 200-230 a day. Lots of miles, good piece count and higher stop pay for regional. But lots of hours. Averaged around 58-62 hours a week running regional.
Keep in mind, this was with a small, local company who specialized in a niche market.Last edited: Apr 26, 2013
