I don't think JB Hunt trains students anymore. Schneider trains and they are nationwide. You have to work for them for a year at a reduced rate. Make sure to ask the company what they provide during training. You may need to buy your own meals.

out of all the places I've applied, Central and Swift have to be my preferred choices. The guy I have been talking to at Central, Corey, has been by far the most helpful and professional. He took the time to answer all of my questions......probably the same questions he has heard a million times, but I was impressed that the first few things out of his mouth were...."you aren't going to get rich, you aren't going to be home a lot, and you will learn how to have a conversation with yourself......I laughed, told him that I am broke now so any mony coming in is better than the 437 bucks i have in my bank account, told him I'm not gonna have a home for a while, and that not only do I talk to myself I talk to the inanimate objects around me on a regular basis......he laughed, but honestly Corey took almost 45 minutes to walk me through the whole process......i just didnt think to ask him how long before he got an answer........
And I'm adding JB Hunt to the list to call monday at Doubled4287's reccomendation. I see their trucks everywhere around here, and while I don't have a home to come back to in a few weeks, I do have friends in this area so If i decided to take some home time, I could always come back to this area and stay at a near by hotel and hang out with some buddies......but not a necessity or necessary by any means at this point.....I just need some income, a place to stay and some freedom.
I figure if the trucking thing works out, I can look at getting a brick and mortor "home/apartment" in a few years....maybe as I travel the country I might find an area I'd like to live, and find a local type job their and settle there.....who knows....... -
JB Hnt and Tango don't train new drivers..............

Swift is high on my list because they also were very professional on the phone, and I've talked to their drivers before as they loaded and unloaded at the business next door to my old place of work. They were usually a pretty good bunch of guys and gals, some of them had complaints but it all sounded like the same stuff everyone complains about....but overall most of them liked what they were doing and had some pretty entertaining stories. I'd usually offer them something from the kitchen...extra stuff we had cooked up or extra snacks or sodas....and every single one of them couldnt thank me enough...not because they needed the food, but because it was different then what they usually ate.

Shneider doesn't train for cdl....they will help me find a school, but I have to pay for the school, and find living quarters..........

Right out of school I worked for Swift for 5 months. That was in 1998. Decent equipment and benefits but they had too many driver unloads. I can't say I liked working there. I was trying to get home for Christmas and they were sending me in the opposite direction. I hope things work out for you.
