I think he said he wasn't concerned about miles, it was the dishonesty. Please read all of the post, then make a comment.
-
Interesting that JBC's question was clearly and thoroughly answered in the quote above it.
-
Okay, children, what's so dishonest about the Honors Program?
-
Children?
First of all, I don't like your tone, or the insinuation you're making here.
Second, since you were a 2nd Lt, that means you have a degree, right? The answer is in the first post you responded to. If you actually earned that degree, you should be able to figure it out all by yourself.
Third, I think you are in company management. The reason I think you are a company insider is:
1. You refused to provide an answer in your profile question "Trucker?"
2. Most of your other posts on this board talk down to other drivers. Your responses are condescending, as if you speak from a position of authority.
3. I have never met a former military officer who actually drove the truck (dispatcher, yes....driver, no).
4. I know firsthand that there are Roehl recruiters, and dispatchers reading and posting in this forum....how do I know? I asked them, and they told me. Which is probably why they had so many positive posts here. Now that more actual drivers are posting in here, the positive and negative posts are starting to even out.
Regardless, please keep the thread going. The thread needs to stay top of list for awhile so that potential new drivers get a chance to read the negatives that some of us have experienced at Roehl. -
My DSR was such a fanatic/control freak i had to quit. I arrived at a consignee 9 hrs before I had to deliver the night before. At 7 am I went into the office and turned in the papers and docked my truck. At 8 am I was done and requested my next assignment. My EVO III DSR said that she noticed that I arrived at the consignee # 10pm and how did I get unloaded right at 8pm which would have ended my 10 hr break. I told her how and she said I violated my 10 hr break.
I know rules are rules but 5 min to turn in papers and dock a truck shouldnt be a violation of the 10 hr rule to me being that I was on private property.. I had to take a trip to Marshfield to be wrote up. None the less I quit because if they can be that anal about something so minor, I can only immagine if something big was to happen. Homeboy was right about this company. They are great at somethings but in others they are just like the others. -
From where I sit, you didn't "violate" anything.
Again, if you were on private property, you didn't violate anything.
I can't say on here what I would have told them to do with that.
Well, Roehl has a good reputation here for the most part. As for the write-up I would have took that up with a higher authority. Hopefully, this will be an isolated incident. -
This doesn't surprise me anymore. They have way too many of these college kids in there doing dispatch work, and not enough people who know what it's like on the road.
I am lucky because my dispatcher is an ex-flatbedder who has at least been on the road and knows what we go through.
I would like to change fleets to get more consistent home time, but I don't want to change DSR's because it's a crap shoot as to what you will get. -
Some very interesting posts here. Although I am retired now I still enjoy reading the posts on this sight. My last driving job was with Roehl.I have driven for several other outfits over the years and to me Roehl was the best one of the bunch. Of course the old MS Carriers was a first clas outfit as well. What you all have to remember is that trucking is a different kind of life. While driving for Roehl I had some undesirable loads, mixed in with the good ones.Thats just life in the trucking industry.Makes no difference who you drive for,you are gonna have some bad days. After all you are working for a company that has freight that has to be delivered.During my stay at Roehl, I had a few issues with them, but I could always straighten them out by calling my fleet mgr. As for log book issues, yes they are very strict on the logging. I had one issue on logging and got it cleared up with a phone call to the safety dept. No matter what path you take while working for someone you are gonna have bad days. If you cant handle that you had better move on to something a little easier.
Tug197 Thanks this. -
I do this all the time and no one has ever said anything. I also do not start my day until I have a new dispatch. They do this stuff with new guys for about the first six months, after that they cut you some slack.
