I currently live in a small town about an hour from Bowling Green, Kentucky. It is about 60 miles from Nashville and 90 miles from Louisville. I plan to start CDL school by the end of January, no later than february.
Could anyone recommend a good company to work for, both local or otr? Would drive semi, dump truck whatever.

Attention employers: We now require a valid DOT# for anyone wishing to post a driving position. If your job offer doesn't contain a DOT number, it will not get past moderation and will not appear in the forum. The other requirements in the sticky at the top of this section are still required as well. Thank you for understanding.
Who in Kentucky?

no one lives in Kentucky or knows of any companies for newbies?
-
Try maverick. I live in KY and get home on the weekends.

I applied with them just a couple days ago. They said it would be a few days before they would know if I am approved or not. Thank you though

notarpsforme, could you tell me about your experience with maverick so far?
-
They are the best company I have driven for.

L.J. Kennedy runs flatbeds throughout that area. They are based out of Carrollton, up on the Ohio river, but I am not sure how many terminals they have spread around the state. Worth doing a little bit of research into. They haul a lot of finished wood products on flatbeds, tarping is involved.

RAMBO
I live in pendleton ky just graduated from careear development center in london ky. I have just arrived in des moines Iowa for orientation for TMC. They sound like a good company with good home time and good pay but we will see how things go. where are you going to school at?
I'll keep you updated on my expirence at tmc (hometime in kentucky, pay and trucks) -
notarps, what are you thoughts on mavericks trucks, the cab, the auto trans, etc.

I like it. If I was going to buy a truck I would not get an auto. I don't mind it as a co truck tho. I have been in this one for 6 months.
