And then you have a minimum of 21 days in a trainer truck. For those of you who haven't even got your CDL yet, WORD TO THE WISE: DO YOUR RESEARCH on the CDL school your planning on attending. My current students CDL school took him to the cleaners!!! 3 days road driving 6 hrs, 8hrs, 6 hrs. And all he had to do as far as backing was pull the truck and trailer straight into a line of cones on either side and back the truck out of them so an approximate straight line back of 72 feet?!? HERE'S THE KICKER....the cdl school had in house testing which was given by one of the instructors at the school. I'm currently working with him and so far, we've spent over 2 hours on 3 separate days trying to get him to just back in a straight line. He is just now grasping the concept of which way to turn the steering wheel to get the trailer to go the way it is supposed to go. This is going to take a Long time which is fine. He asked for 5 weeks in the truck his first day, fine. After this week, he did show improvement, but I did tell him 1. If he cant back the trailer in a straight line, he cant work for Maverick or any other company, his cdl school ripped him off, and I'm going to take a week off in August so he has to be done by then.

I have heard a few guys on here say they have gone down to FL, but it is widely considered a "black-hole" for flatbed freight. I will be passing right by South Bend hopefully within a couple of hours or so on the turnpike once they fix my trailer lights again at the Gary yard. Sewerman lives just South of you down in Westville. He is a wealth of knowledge.
