    Maybe this got it started.

I said the above because he appears to be saying he was just cruising, not passing, exiting left, etc, and was blocking the flow of traffic because he didn't think they should go that fast. That is one reason you should not be in the left lane for.

If he was doing anything listed below, or had some other legitimate reason, then that's fine.

If you aren't passing anyone you don't need to be in the left lanes, regardless of how fast you're driving. One vehicle traveling under the posted limit can be in the left lane provided they are either passing a slower vehicle, their exit is to the left or there's an obstruction they need to clear (such as a broke down vehicle on the shoulder).

I will also say that I don't think the Jersey Turnpike example I gave earlier has a perfectly safe answer. The flow of traffic is way to fast (20 to 30 mph over) to be safe, but going the speed limit isn't safe in those conditions.

    herein lies the problem

there are two lanes of traffic for trucks, this guy is in the second lane (the passing lane for trucks) doing FIVE mph slower than the speed limit

so now if trucks want to pass you, they have to pass you on the right, and they have to deal with grandma driving in the right land and they have to deal with traffic entering and leaving the highway

i run across drivers like this all the time and its amazing how RIGHT they think they are

I'll agree with you there. You have to keep right except to pass, regardless of how fast you're going.

Reread his post. He was doing the speed limit in this situation, but your point is still valid. Disrupting the flow of traffic for no legitimate reason is wrong.

Does that go along with your "If you don't like the way I drive, stay off the sidewalk" bumper sticker?

Some folks just do it because they are bitter and angry with their own lives. So, they do it out of spite just to cause issues with others. You know, the ol' " If Im not happy...Neither should anyone else" attitude. Be safe out there drivers.

And yet these are the same people that wonder where the 'brotherhood' went and wonder why the public has such a low opinion of truckers.
