Discounts are based on how much fuel u are using. If you sign on with a bigger fleet that supplies cards they generally get better discounts.
If its you with one truck it may be pump price.

I based it on 10,000 miles (my original calculation) works out to be $4400 a month.
-
That may be ok... I have no idea what it would take to do 10000 miles.
4500
- taxes
- meals on road
- maintaining a home, living
(the reason we work)
Just don't sound much but hards to pay a driver what you don't bring in! -
Based on what you are suggesting, you would be an owner, not an owner/operator. An owner/operator owns AND operates, the truck. There's no profit in owning one truck but there is money in owning/operating one truck. The truck should, however, earn it's keep if you can manage the truck while holding down a full time job to make a living.

Depending on what you're hauling. I've got a neighbour and another buddy that own a single truck and do make money each month (one oil and one fert) not driving. I bet they had nervous moments first starting off until they had a bankroll (in case of repairs).
Then there are the numerous guys in oil that have one truck that share it with a driver... 5 on/5 off -
Thats right. But lets just say my driver is the o/o (i don't exist) his income is the same as if he was just driving for someone as they would be breaking even based on my calcs. But yes i see the point that as the owner....i would not be making anything. It's probably best for me to be a carrier company and actually employ a couple O/O's and find my own loads through load link etc eh?

That's a different basket of fruit that I know even less than van/reefer! -
The guys i'm planning on putting my truck with are new...they have one truck them selves but are finding their own loads. I think they want to specialize in flat bed. If i can get in on that with them...flat bed work....then that should hopefully work out ok....my rate per mile or rate per load should be better then $1.45 a mile...hopefully lol.

I really appreciate your help btw guys.

Good luck and keep us updated.
