Sorry it took me so long to get back to ya. I've been busy with orientation. Picked up my first load last night. Deliver it in the morning in St. Paul. It wasn't fun driving in your state today. I bet I saw two dozen vehicles either in the median or the ditch between Madison and the WI/MN line.

I'm pulling one of their trailers, but we're renting it from them. Basically, we're paying almost $800/mo but they flip the bill on any and all maintenance. The pay is no different whether it's your trailer or theirs.

Dude AS SOON AS YOU CAN buy your own trailer. Common trailer payment is about $600 a month and that leaves you $200 to go into the maint. fund. You shouldn't have a lot of maint issues on a trailer if you get one in good condition and good tires when you buy it.

I wouldn't pay $800 a month rent on anything very long at all. Hell my house payment is $525. You can't rent around here for that.

I've thought about that and so has my step dad. It's something we're considering. The 800/mo figure came from the $185/wk we pay in rent. A quick punch of the calculator and that's $740 for four weeks.

$740.00 is way too much. I leased to Malone from 6-07 to 9-07 and only paid $600 to lease a trailer from them.

I wish you the best. But Malone didn't work for me.

I've been driving for over a year and a half and drove for 5 companies before I got on to Landstar.

Malone was the worst one I drove for. They just didn't have the freight.

$1800 a week net was the best week I had with them and I had to find that freight myself.

In August of 07 they lost their biggest freight account.

I hope you can make it work for you. I really do!

    $1800 best week??? OUCH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I think my best DAY with Landstar was $1300 (less than 5 hrs under load, not counting the 4 hr dead head) TO THE TRUCK. Best week was $5500 to the truck for 4 days of work.

    No!!!!!!!!! Silly goose.

    This is a Malone thread.

$1800 in a week is the best I could do with them for the three months I was with them while waiting to get on with Landstar.

I don't think I've ever pulled a load for Landstar that paid less than $1800.

But once Landstar contacted Malone for employment verification Malone got ticked and called me on the phone.

I had to use Trinity, CH Robinson and Landstar's Broker board to make my money.

Right now I'm going from Tucson to Frisco, by way of Amarillo and Chicago.

7 days of driving in 8.5 days for $11000. Total of three partials and one total load.

Something I could never do while with Malone because the rates were lower while driving for them.

I've been out for two weeks now after taking the Holiday month off. From Frisco I'll head home to Texas.

The Total load pays $5025 with $928 for FSC and $100 for tarp. The rest is on the line haul for four pieces at 11,500 lbs. Three and a half days of driving and the drop if the weather holds up. But I think it's going to change for the worst.

I know this is a Malone thread.

I was just shocked at how bad Malone tries to make folks go broke.
