otr trucks, but the race trucks probably have 'em for sure. I can only imagine Australia from a distance. You'd be kickin' up so much dirt it might wind up burying you alive when you come to a stop. And the dingos might eat your baby. Them some mean roos . Right mate !!?

  3. Its 12:49 am ..................course I ate one meal today at 7pm, not good. What R u doing up so late?
R U on the road or at your home base?
Do U have a lap top and take it with ya?

I am up late cuz our household got a sad call from MI,this afternoon, my cousins wife 45 yrs, passed away in her sleep on the couch, several days ago. I had been stalling and not wanting to call them back there, but will call first thing in the am, briefly and then send them a note. It is sad really, we didn't stay in the best of touch.

bankers hours see. I stay close to home per-say. And I'm home right now. No laptop. I'll be layin' it down for some much needed r&r in about 15 or so. Sorry to hear the bad news. God Bless. Believe it or not, I only ate a few cookies , and about half a frozen meatball dinner all day. Tomorrow I'll eat about 10 lbs. of food to recover. At least we're both on mountain time.... less confusing.

  5. U have the best of both worlds, OTR and close to your home.

Get your rest and be ready for the road.

Thanks for the Blessing they will need it back in MI.

Drink lots of water , then maybe you will eat 5 lbs instead of 10lbs. Course U probably have the ideal male metabolism, eat and eat and not gain any weight.

otr? haha... I'm what you would call a wuss !! I only do turns basically. I run out and run back. As quickly as possible. I like being home. Already did some otr a couple years. If I ever meet someone who wants to ride with me, I'd do it again. Otherwise, I'm homebound. Yep, you know me already, I have to eat about 5 full course meals every day if I wanna gain a couple lbs. I need a good cook.

WOW, that is a mess! I know that hill very well and certainly can attest to the fact that it IS steep...steeper than it looks for sure. THEN, there is a weigh station right at the bottom of it and they don't like to see your brakes smoking for sure. I wonder if he had a Jake brake? I used to run out there all the time without a Jake brake and NEVER will again...EVERY truck should have a Jake brake by law IMHO.

I received an email from someone familiar with the area of the crash: "The photos don't show it but that is a really steep grade but what makes it worse is that it has long bends in the road that are decreasing radius turns that give you the false impression that you are fine but then all of a sudden they close in on you. It's one of the few places where they have large flashing signs telling you how fast you are going and then it REALLY flashes at you telling you to slow down if you're speeding."

I disagree, you downshift on a hill anytime you need to find a lower gear. That, in conjunction with your jake will hold you at an appropriate speed. Of course if you start out going too fast this becomes difficult if not impossible. But if you start slow, realize that you are in too high of a gear, you brake until your rpms drop enough to downshift one more gear...repeating this until you are at the one that will hold you.
My guess is like the others here, that he was just going too fast to begin with and couldn't do it the right way.

If you are afraid the downshift will cause you to not find a gear, your training should have taught you how to recover, if it didn't, you need more training.

  10. If U want to gain a couple pounds.

How about my boot added where the sun don't shine for xtra weight :):) that quote might have come from the Ladies room. :):)

    U need a good cook.

U like to eat so look in the mirror and say
I want to be a good cook. try it!

The two best cooks I have ever met are brothers, they have a Horse Racing Stable and Cattle Ranch in, SD. Darnnnnnnnnnnn good eating!

Work your backside off at the Ranch and eat like a horse. It was great!

Listen here, about your Wussness back and forth in a day, is no easy task.

Behind the wheel of a Big Rig is a JOB not for the Pee hearted!

you mean the ladies are mad at me? I'll have to sneak a peak in the room and look into that. It also depends on what kind of boot you're talkin' about. Does it have heels? You didn't know I can already cook? I just want someone who knows what the hell they're doin. Anybody can throw an egg over the fire... but it takes a special woman to cook the bacon just right. I've always wondered what it's like to work on a ranch . It's gotta be better than driving trucks. Driving the herd in has got to be a thrill as long as they don't run you over and eat you for breakfast.
