well getting paid 22c a mile you have to drive like you stole it to make up for the low mileage rate...thats how most newbie truck drivers look at it...Have you ever seen a UPS package driver hauling ###? Nope..they are in the right lane doing 55mph and no more.

We aren't talking about 4-wheelers. We are talking about the 'professional' truck driver who gets paid to drive and has had extensive training.

Don't take jobs that pay that low. Sorry, but that's not a excuse.

Just a simple google search, I cant tell you how current this is but its defiantly not 20 years old.

    What are some accident statistics?
Estimates of 41,000 to 45,000 traffic deaths occur every year within the U.S.. Walkers and bikers account for 15% of the total traffic deaths each year. Fewer than 9% of those deaths involve commercial vehicles. More than 80% of those accidents are the fault of the non-commercial driver. Of those death related accidents only 4% of trucks are fatigue related. Drinking related accounted for .06% of those accidents.

Nope. My imagination isn't running wild. There aren't too many places I go where the speedlimit is more than 50 mph, and every truck blows by me like I'm standing still even with my cruise set at it.

All it takes is one at fault accident and your 22 years of 'safe' driving will mean nothing.
