So, I have been driving a truck for over a year now and I have a sweet job as a daycab driver. So, I have a question for you all about I-65 through Indianapolis, which is on my daily route. You know how curvy it is, the speed limit is 50 mph in places then 55 mph, but with the enormous amounts of curves that it has, I always drive slower so I won't roll my truck. I saw it happen once on I-70 in Indianapolis on the I-65/I-70 split. So I am just making sure I am extra careful. Is that safe for me to slow down on those curves? Am I a wimp for slowing down?

Nope, your not a wimp!! Drive your truck according to your comfort level!! You want to slow down because your more comfortable, then do so.

been through there a few times. don't really recall any curves THAT bad. LOL.

but safety is your best friend. you do what makes UUUUU feel safe in the curves. last thing you want is to lay down on the road.

Better safer than sorry. And if anyone says different then they are nothing more than a super trucker and do not need to listen to them. Just my 1/4 of a cent worth

Through the split, the 'suggested' speed is 40mph.

Not meaning to thread jack, but just in case any of you ever wonder why all oversized loads run the middle lane around the 465 loop, even though we may be moving the slowest, the Indiana permit routes us that way, and it will say that we are to run only in the middle lane. So don't think that we are just trying to hog the road, that's the state rules.

Nothing wrong with hogging the road.Sometimes you have to depending on what you are hauling.I run across oversize everyday and many of them have to take up both lanes.

Nothing wrong with driving slower the posted speed limit.Just because it says 50 does'nt mean you have to do 50.Those speed limits are meant for cars.Around curves and exits ramps, especially the windy ones,I always do at least 5 miles less then what the speed limit is.

Well twice I did try to hog the road, I did not want cars in front of me when I crashed (thinking ahead) Lost brakes going down the mountain with no Jake brake on the truck. lucky I was able to keep speed down to 45 mp max but left a cloud of smoke behind me. And ha to work the red lights when I got down at the bottom of the mountain.

Now back to your regular schedule program
