You can drive through a curve 1 million times to slow.... but just 1 time to fast. Slow, steady, smooth and safe is the key.
That rule of thumb comes from the men who taught me how to drive.... that used to pull swinging meat into Chicago.
Rolling a truck would be a bad way to loose that sweet job.Last edited: May 4, 2013

You could be one of those macho guys on the other threads complaining about being DAC'd and blackballed due to a small "mistake" that hurt no one.. sure it cratered a load, a truck, trailer and caused several hundred thousands of dollars.. but everyone does it and they promise that they'll NEVER do it again.

"Know the road....know your load".

There's an old saying about hills that also applies to curves....you can take them too slow every time, you only take them too fast once.
Dont worry about holding others up, they will get over it....drive how youre comfortable and safe.91B20H8 and Lady_Truck Thank this. -
Thats the best advice there is

Every truck and load handles differently.....just drive where you are comfortable!

If you take the curve just right, it will lift the tires on one side off the road. That reduces wear on your tires.
Ghost Ryder Thanks this. -
I was pulling a live load in a smooth bore tanker through NC one trip, and I kept it right at 60 mph as there were a lot of curves. I had about 20 rigs following me on the super slab, but no one ever passed or made a comment on the CB. I guess they were all waiting for something to happen with a front row seat.....
