I think the biggest complaint the difference in perception between the exp and the rookie. The rookies seem think we are over competent and to willing to criticize them so harshly. And the exp drivers lack the compassion to see the rookies mistakes as just that a mistake. Who cares what your record or how you operate your trk when someone asks for advice all they get is chewed out.Remember what your momma told you "if you got nothing good to say , say nothing at all" people may think they are giving constructive criticism but in reality it's a form of the old fashion bullying we are not children here....

In a way I agree, but in another way I do not agree. Sometimes you need to be kicked in the butt to learn something. Call it tough love if you will. I don't have a problem with you personally as I don't know a dang thing about you. What I have an issue with is your perception of what a 'safe' driver is. Driving 10+mph over the speedlimit and tailgating traffic isn't a 'mistake'. It's driving like a dang fool. I have a bigger problem when you or someone else tries to justify it. We are supposed to be professional drivers. It's about time y'all start acting like one when y'all drive.

If it's a 'mistake' as you call it, then learn from it and correct it. Justifying a 'mistake' concludes it's a choice that you will continue to make.

Tough love works only with someone that knows the person when it's a stranger thats just being a jerk. And considering you can do absolutely nothing about speeders or tailgators than what you say only foalls on deaf ears then it only becomes a rant by a bitter person once to let someone know how you feel is one thing but saying the same ole thing over and over again gets old real fast.Potental new drivers dont come on here to hear old men and youg guys spouting how there horrible people because of very minor incidents stuff that won't even matter in 5 yrs.

Not once did I or will I promote doing a unsafe act but I am a realistic in the fact that it happens just deal with it and move on. With the increase in population it's only gonna get worse and with all the safety devices on the new vehicles it's becoming more survivable. Worry about someone's bad habits means your not concentrating on your own..

Any accident isn't considered a very minor incident. Just ask the guy sitting opposite you at a job interview...some companies (bad ones ) won't give a flip....but on the other hand those that are really good career positions with good pay , benefit's home time, etc. the things that everybody wants in a job..they do consider accidents...ALL of them., when talking to a perspective employee.

Stay busy you seem to be an intelligent guy...but your take on how veterans feel is different from mine. I don't care if you've got 50 years or 5 minutes experience.....A bad attitude/I don't have to listen to that old fart attitude is gonna sooner or later get someone killed...Driving , ALL driving should be taken with the most serious of attitudes...but truck driving is in a class all its own....just because of the exposure we get vs what a regular 9 to 5'er does....The younger guys/rookies need to know this , and when they seem to not want to listen as a couple have on this thread..the older drivers really have a responsibility to let them hear our side....if we must get loud in the process so be it...it may save a life or 2....

Maybe it's my addicition to reality tv but everyone of those big broadcasting psychological doctors and patients always succeed with helping people by being assertive with a helping attitude yet no one responds to insults or intimidation it's just not how it works..

I never said I know everything. I don't know you, you don't know me, but yet, just because I disagree with SOME of the posted limits in areas where they don't make any sense, I'm an unsafe driver. Y'all are just here being jerks, as far as I'm concerned, and I know what a local driver is. And sure, I obey local to the letter. Heck, I go five under posted speed limit sometimes 10 depending on traffic and weather. Especially in Birmingham while it's raining. And sense in that one year of driving I have NEVER gotten pulled over, except for an inspection during last years blitz, tells me that i am at least doing something right not to draw the law's attention.

Worrying about some else's bad habits has kept me accident free, for 3 decades...driving defensively , paying attention to developing traffic patterns/problems , are all part of doing just that...its called EXPECT THE UNEXPECTED....It's called paying attention.
