Working in Alaska

I appreciate all the info. I'm about as much a "flatlander" as one could be. It makes perfect sense to start out in the summer.

 

Thanks for the advice. I've run all of the lower 48, and a good bit of Canada. I remember pulling into Regina, Saskatchewan and it was -11 degrees outside. I remember freezing my cute little bootie off, but it didn't seem like something I couldn't deal with or get used to. I've been in Montana and Wyoming where it's almost been as cold. I certainly get it about being mechanically inclined. I grew up on and around farms, and have worked around heavy equipment all my life, which gives you a lot of practice because there is always something broke. You would be amazed what one motivated dude can accomplish with duct tape, vise grips, a butane torch, a 4 pound blacksmith hammer, and a bag of 14 inch plastic zip ties.
