everyone is different... everyone wants to be in different situations. do you want otr, regional, local, where do you want to live, etc... even if a company is the best company out there, in one persons opinion, if they dont hire out of your area, and its only local and you want otr you aren't going to work there right?

The average turnover rate at large companies (take your pick) is over over 100%.
Should you be reading between the lines........................................................?
My personal sense is that you are overthinking your decision. You've never been accused of being overly analytical, have you?
The odds of you staying with any of the initial box companies you start with for more than a year or so are very low anyways. -
Got a physical yesterday. Went pretty well. Except I need to lose weight, what's new?
Go in for blood labs this morning. Then, a colonoscopy in a few weeks. I'm SO excited about that! NOT! -
oookkaayyy you keep your butt news outta the lounge!!! lol

Gee whiz, you guys have a butt aversion I guess

How do you think I will feel having a long hose with a camera and polyp clippers running up my butt and into my colon?Last edited: May 4, 2013
Rogerthat Thanks this. -
Gwg we are all experienced drivers. May is a good entry level company. After you get experience and have a good driving record you re nowthen a free agent and can go anywhere you choose. I still recommend them.

Agreed, I wouldn't rule out big Orange (SNI) either having driven for both.
May has nicer trucks but Schneider is a lot bigger with more divisions so more opportunity to do different things like intermodal, tanker etc. and they have top notch driver facilities at their terminals, May's aren't so hot. -
Thanks guys, appreicate it and both of you. I have started the hiring process with May, am waiting on the background check to come back which I already know is good becasue I already passed the TSA background check to be able to get my Hazmat endorsement, and am waiting on the employment check which I already know will be good. She is pulling my MVR which I already sent her a copy and nothing has changed and she told me over the phone my tickets from 2010 only add up to 3 points on their sytem, which they will hire if total points are under 11, so I am good to go there.
I am trying to decide on orientation in Denver on May 14 (I gradute from this school in Grand Junction, CO on May 13th) or in Phoenix on May 21. Also, I have alreay spoken via phone with a May trainer (sorry your still not a May trainer Joker) who is suppose to be good, and we hit it off and i would like him as my trainer. He is making some calls to see if he can get near Denver or Phoenix at the above dates to pick me up.
My only concern is taking the road test in a 13 speed, which I am training on a straight 10 speed. I get how to up shift, in the high range, in a 13, but I am having a hard time visualizing how to downshift, while in the high range, in a 13. Any suggestions?

Don't sweat it,you won't have to use the splitter so just shift like a 9 speed and double clutch and you'll be fine even if you grind a few times.
They won't expect you to be good at shifting they just want to see if you have lane control and can turn and back up without getting into trouble.
They know you're green just out of school and expect all that, the real learning starts when you hit the road with a trainer and after a couple weeks you'll be shifting a whole lot better and they know that as well.
