You need a winter of experience to be a trainer. They try to keep you moving, but they dont push you to hard. You can drive as fast as you want. but if you dotn push yourself a little you wont do to well.

We dont have to many trainers in the North east. My first trainie was from CT. In most cases you will get at least 1 or 2 week-ends home. Talk to your trainer and they can normally work with you. if I get a guy with no kids I try to just take one week-end home. If i get a guy with kids I try to get home every week-end. My Ct trainie got home 3 times. We have a home depot distribution yard in ct and a lowes in Ma. Lots of freight up there but a lot of FAK. (freights all kind, basically mismatched stuff.)

If a nother driver reports you drinking in the truck, you can lose your job. If you have to drink, do it on a 34 hour reset in the truck stop lounge, not in your truck, and don't even think about drinking with in 10 hours of driving.

But yea, they are a little nuts on how clean the truck has to be. I norm take mine into a detail shop before every service. 40 bucks for them to clean the inside real nice 3 times a year so i wont have TMC complaining. (do it b4 going into their yard.) They do provide cleaning supplies though so if your good at cleanining you can do it yourself

Thank you for taking the time to respond, I'm trying to get as much info as possible so I appreciate the help! I'm really excited about the possibility of working for TMC! I'm a single guy with no kids so my plan is to try and see as much of the country as I can... Do you think TMC will be able to get me out west at all? I would love to eventually get some runs out to CA, NV, etc.

So if i am on my 34 hour reset, at a truck stop, and i want to get a can of polish and a 6 pack of beer, and polish on the truck to pass the time, that is a no no [the 6 pack of beer].

Well, this is hawk from Texas. I will be at TMC on the 20th and glad to be going there. I researched plenty prior to my initial application and have great confidence I have made the right choice with TMC. I am aware of the training and am glad of how they operate and conduct themselves semi in a military fashion. That is what brought me to TMC. Keep us informed as to how the training is going when you get there on the 13th BBN and Brandelay. I should have been in the same class as you all but due to wedding anniversary I was not able to make it for that class but will be there or the 20th. Keep up the great work and see you all there.

So far I have heard great things about the percentage pay. Is there any of you have more info on percentage vs mileage? I have missed Iowa and has been some time since last visited there. Glad to be on board!!

Yes. As far as I know, that's not just company policy, it might also be DOT regs. Just remember, everything you do now, may affect you license, whether you are in a CMV or not.

I would think TMC and most companies would have a rule against having alcohol in the truck or drinking while around it, especially if its at a truck stop. If its at your own house maybe it be ok. But otherwise its a bad image. Nobody knows if your on your 34hr reset. Most people would see a truck driver drinking beer and wondering if your driving that night or what. It just doesn't look good.
