how's this for a rate.

salt lake utah to st. albans west virginia. 1871 miles. $300

 

You can't be serious!?!?! I would be embarrassed to ask about a rate like that

I see rates like that and worse get posted all the time. And these are not partials either. I just find it difficult to believe anyone would even consider it. I've often thought it a broker trick and really the load ends up paying much, much more than that. No-one would book a load like that..

 

If I was driving my pickup and it was a easy load and unload, I'd haul it. Do I have to get on U-Ship to put in a bid?

 

Doesnt help that so many "asphalt gypsies" are flooding the market. Carriers are going overseas to europe and other countries and bringing in these drivers who get a truck thats nicer than their apartment, they get to live the "american way" with buffets and women and beautiful places to visit. And they can pocket in a week ($350) than many could make in a month or more at home doing the same work in dangerous trucks on bad roads in fear of hijackers.. If i had no home, no bills no family to care for , free medical etc... I could live just fine on that kind of money.. Problem is they will buy an old truck, live in it, and haul the .80 a mile freight smiling from ear to ear.!!

 

I just do my job and watch. Some are drivers, some are trying, some will never be. Hard way to make a living.

Yes someone is hauling them. The guy that got three dollars a mile to go in there.

 

When you figure out how to make money instead of just a living, it becomes easy.
