I am hearing about how bad Werner is. I have seen it first hand, yet I am lucky because the people over me are actually okay people. My question is, when did they get this bad and will they ever change? Will they ever go under because they push so many people away?
When did Werner get this bad?

The larger some companies get the more dysfunctional they become.

A lot of people today probably won't hardly believe this but Werner was a pretty respectable company back in the day. I'm always surprised when I read how bad these companies have become.

As long as there is a steady stream of high school dropouts, drug addicts,& convicted criminals, with no set job skills to even flip burgers, lining up to go to " truck driving school" it'll never change and probably just get worse..

Lonesome, drvrtech77, Down the road and 1 other person Thank this. -
This is the sort of thing that happens when a parent that put his life into a business hands it over to children that have been coddled and expect everyone to kiss their ##### in the same manner that their parents did. It happens pretty frequently.
drvrtech77 and aiwiron Thank this. -
It's very common trend as stated above. Mom and Pop build a successful company. Kids get it later on and drive it into the ground. It happens over and over again. I honestly think it is because MOM and Pop were truckers who built the business. The Kids usually work in the office, maybe spending a small amount of time on the road. We all know about the eternal war between drivers and the office peeps. LOL
But I remember when Werner was considered a good company. I remember when JB was considered one of the best(Back when they were running the cabovers) Anyone remember Jevic before the Old Man died? Here locally We are seeing alot of 1-5 truck trucking companies that will come in and haul freight until their permits get pulled for violtions and non payment of taxes. The owners will bankrupt the company and auction off the equipment to relatives or friends and keep a cycle of doing the same thing over and over again and then they move out of state. When We had the big highway contracts a few years ago, there were guys buying equipment and trying to run with the previous companies Name and DOT# still on the trucks LOL -
I can remember England being a reputable company as well. Hard to imagine, but it was actually one of the better companies to drive for.
England's demise was for the same reasons as previously listed. Mom&Pop organization when it started and flourished, then got turned to hell when the kids & grandkids took it over.
Moral of the story:
If you start up your own company, DO NOT give it to your kids. -
Ok the last three commetators blamed the company going down because of the kids,, It's more like if drivers didnt keep signing up for 30 cpm and sitting around for 30 out 70 hours per week without pay they would still be good companies...The blame should go all to the drivers...you guys "accept" the horrible working condictions.

Yep, I remember the Werner kids nearly tore the company apart.
