I'll bet we passed each other at some point. Just went from Troy to Alpharetta, sitting in NOR waiting on an LTL to get me towards the house. All ready preplanned for Sunday. Only getting about 2100 this week.

Seems like everyone is doing pretty good this week.
I plan on leaving right at my 34 hour to head to Dallas tomorrow so I can get a full 10 hour before my appointment at Walmart I'm going to sleep there so my time doesn't start so when they are done I will send a message to my FM saying Im ready to go with full 11/14.
Couple of things I learned just by talking to other drivers is this...
Have your ten hour break finished by the time your unloaded if all possible. That means sleep at your customer and if you get 8 hours in at least pull out of the dock and pull somewhere in that parking lot to finish your 10 hour. They will assign you loads based on when your available. If you have 3 or so hours left on your clock your probably not going to get a run that day so better hang it up and go to bed. Another thing is to have full communication with your fm at all times. Don't bother him/her asking for loads since he really doesn't have time considering he has 20 or more drivers to deal with. You have a qualcomm which means use it for all communication to your fleet manager. I was told by my fm to use the qualcomm at all times unless it's a question that needs urgent attention. When he has 20 drivers calling him at once it slows him down in the process. Treat your fleet manager or night dispatch with respect and you will get it back in the end. If your rude or aggressive to them they will make you sit and wait for loads and give the loads to people that are actually there to work and not fuss. Everyday I tell my FM good morning just based on my respect for him. He has helped me out multiple times and we have a good friendship. Don't be scared to ask a question he/she will answer as soon as possible. If they trust you enough they will basically leave you alone and they let you run your truck the way you want too. Getting miles has to do with availability in my opinion and what your willing to do with the company. I'll be honest I've messed with my logs a few times to make my appointment but that's the benefit of paper logs and my fm never did ask me to do that. I did what I had to do to get the miles. I can't say that im an expert since I haven't been in truckload long but so far I haven't had any problems with dispatch or with getting miles. I hoping on becoming a trainer so since I love to teach and Im in the process now.
Another thing I found out is that your VHOS is very important even on my paper log truck. If you go out and run it's best to run the crap out of your truck and drive as much as you want but if you stop you better get a 10 hour break because if you get an 8 hour break then leave again that VHOS will put that 8 hours on your "on duty not driving" and you can run out of your 70 then your stuck at a truck stop doing a 34. Just something to look at guys.Last edited: May 4, 2013

Last week wasn't so good, this week is going to suck, and next week I have a sleep study on Thursday.
Daughter is graduating from college this Saturday.
Load canceled on Sunday. Arrive at truck at 0645hrs monday, advise FM I'm ready to go. FM has no knowledge the load was canceled. Worked it out, got put on a 1800hrs load. Can't go in early for load, can't dock until 1900hrs. Been in dock for 30mins, no movement to load me. Miles are going to be horrid for the next two weeks. I wish I were back on salary, need the funds now that I'm getting a divorce. I'm dead tired and still have about 4hrs to drive. Oh boy, it's going to be a fun week.

Tnronin, sorry to hear about the divorce but congrats on your daughters graduation. Personal time can for sure mess up the income but I am so glad I can be home for stuff like that when I need to be.
I wasn't too pleased with the shop at Chattanooga. I had my FM let them know I needed a power steering pump for my truck on Wednesday so they could order it. Wrote my truck up before noon on Friday and figured it would get fixed over the weekend. I get a call yesterday from my interim FM telling me my truck wouldn't be fixed until today (Tuesday morning) because they had to order the part on Monday morning. I lost a day of miles but did get breakdown pay for the day. Then my load headed out was pick up in Crossville and then deliver in Doraville GA. After I deliver tomorrow I'll need to put my truck in the shop at Fulton to get a front end alignment and have them check out the power steering because it's already acting up again. GEEZ!
So goes life I guess. Next weeks paycheck is going to suck but hopefully Clifford the Big Red Truck will be squared away and ready to run hard again.
