I would much rather the old style of slacks. I much preferred adjusting my own. Even though, I still, when I am under the truck, will take along a slack pulling tool that give me considerable leverage and pull the slacks to make sure they are adjusted properly. Not a difficult job and one that anyone should know how to do. Including how to adjust both manual and auto slacks. It is true, if auto slacks are not wanting to adjust, time to go into the shop. But until one gets there, they better know how to get them into adjustment in the event they get inspected along the way. I always carry my brake certification card for those that are into that sort of thing.
