Good decision, since half our new hire classes are ex-TMC drivers, so you were gonna end up here either way. This way you cut out the middleman :)

    sewerman Thanks this.

Any trick to getting my truck to not shut off my plugs? I'm scared to putcooler just to waste it because the truck turned them off...

Not really. The rear plus, lights, etc shut down automatically when your battery voltage drops to a certain level.

If your cooler uses a cigarette lighter type plug, the two on the dash always stay on, but you want to watch it because I tried that with my Coleman and it drew too much power and melted the plug.

What I usually do is move my cooler behind the curtain at night and keep my A/C high. By the time the power shuts down, it's cold in there and usually stays decent until morning.

New fridge.jpg Finally dusted off the debit card and bought a REAL fridge/freezer. We had a 40qt. Coleman for 1 1/2 yrs. It did great except when it got really hot out. So we bought this about a month ago. We have no regrets. It's wonderful and the freezer actually holds a lot. It even has a blue light in it. When you open it at night it reminds you of a portal to another world (ghost busters) LOL It takes very little power. Cuts on and off like a house fridge.

Could you give us specifics? Where did you get it? Dimensions? Price?

We got it from www.BigRigGifts.com We also paid a small fortune for it. Reg. $499.00 + $99.00 for the Cascadia mounting bracket. Well worth it for the long haul (pun intended) After talking to many drivers about what they use and how long they last, this seemed like the best option. Plus we ran into a Maverick that had one. He showed hubby and hubby was hooked. Fits perfect and very secure. Easy easy hook up. In the Cascadia you just unhook the cig. lighter adapter that is at the bottom of the fridge opening and plug the connectors together. Make sure to save the cig. lighter adapter so it can be put back on later.

    Description:

While not the most glamorous of truck accessories, the TruckFridge TF49 could well be considered the coolest. Rated as the the most popular version of replacement truck refrigerators amongst truckers, the TF49 fits in most Freightliner, Kenworth, Peterbuilt and even International trucks built after 2009.

Designed with the trucker in mind, the TF49 keeps food cold even in 110 F ambient temperatures and even has a light that only turns on when the door is open.

    Measurements for the TF49 are 20 ½ h x 15 ½ w x 18 ½ d, and is considered a direct replacement for the trucks listed above.

TruckFridge has been around since 1996 and has a standard 2-year warranty.

Standard (most trucks) or PACCAR (Peterbilt & Kenworth) wiring harnesses included at No Charge !!

*Fits most KW, Pete - 63" Sleeper, Freightliner Century, Columbia, Coronado, Cascadia, Mack, and 2009 International Pro series Trucks.

(Cabinet opening should measure approximately 15 wide)

NOTE: Freightliner Cascadia requires additional mounting plate not included with fridge. Select from drop-down to the left.

I have the same unit and love it. Same time and money. When I'm at home I BBQ on the grill and have good eats all week long.

I bought mine in January and have probably saved a good portion of the price by not eating out. If I ever decide not to drive anymore, this will have some resale value also. I think it was well worth it!!!
