So, because it doesn't run constantly, the truck doesn't shut off the plugs and it will stay running? I don't see any reason to buy if the truck still won't support the power requirements...

Haven't had it shut off yet. Had to worry about the coleman all the time
-
That could make all the difference in the world. The power only shuts down once your battery voltage level gets low. If the fridge only kicks on a couple times to maintain the temp, it's not using any real power. I'm sure it's insulated MUCH better than the Coleman coolers and such. I've considered getting something like this but I'm not sure I'm staying OTR for the long term so it's not worth the money for me right now.

So-So right now. I like it for the most part. I am giving it a little while to get all the bugs worked out. If they run it right and make 1 adjustment to the pay, it will be pretty good. If not, I'm not so sure!
Glad the fridge is working out for you guys. I thought it would!! -
FYI- I have parked my truck Thursday evening and it was still kicking early Monday morning when I left out. I never started it that weekend either. I am pretty impressed with it. Another thing I liked was the 2 year warranty. And, the main US distributor is in Georgetown, KY which helps since we are in that area often if I should have had a problem with it.

lol yep used to use the orange vee board edge protectors, called em pete's parked next to you. Left on a trailer during a swap, driver never returned calls, texts, etc. Used another instructors trick of getting the student's cell phone and putting it on the line. They'll stay a mile away from it. Cant do any of this yet if I even get the chance. 3rd week in a row now backing is still a critical issue. I'm no longer saying left right left, if he's backing, im watching the mirror already surveyed the area for pallets/ parked cars/ dropped trailers/ light poles/ jersey barriers/ guardrails and any other mostly stationary item that remains completely still until you're not looking, then lurches into your side like a bull to a matador. Most new drivers have this jack it this way, overcorrect, jack it that way and kinda get going back like a broken back rapala lure swims when you reel it through the water. Its taken him 3 weeks now and he's at the oversteer, under correct, over correct the under correct, had his CDL school spent 20 hours backing instead of what he said was a total of 3 hours over a period of part time attendance over 4 weeks time at the school, I'm sure he'd be doing much better. he's hit the gear selector switch on the paddle numerous times from drive to neutral when trying to downshift the trans out of freewheel mode each time oblivious to what had happened including to the sound of the engine revving but the truck not going anywhere but to a stop. Today he oversteered the entrance to an on ramp and drove the passenger side steer tire over the curb into the gravel on the other side and back onto the on ramp. Its all noted and has been transflowed with his paperwork. He wanted 5 weeks in the trainer truck from day one. Not a problem. At the rate he's going, its going to be at least 8 if not more that's if he doesn't tear anything up. I told him and noted on this paperwork, he's driven over curbs on his passenger side twice and if it happens again, I will not be allowing him to drive the company equipment I was issued.....period.

Only power my cooler draws is muscle power used by a student who cares to put ice into it to keep his stuff cold. If at a terminal, I will assist him in carrying the cooler to and from the ice machine so draws a bit of my power as well as his. It also fits perfectly between the sides of my canoe. Purchased at walmart. 19.99. 15 years ago. still works just as well as the day I took it off the shelf. Things durable too! still has knife marks in it from where I was cutting bait atop it for snapper bluefish, croakers, spots, rockfish etc in the Chesapeake Bay.

How's it going Andrewrhyne1986??? How's training???? When did they offer u a job?? Wed or Thurs???
-
That is......well.....I'm not sure any amount of training can fix that (being oblivious).
Just my opinion and I might be wrong.
That said,
Thank the good Lord there are guys like you Sarge...guys that have the desire and ability to teach others...and the balls to risk riding with those who cannot be taught.
I'm not saying your student is one of them...but I'm sure you've known the type I'm talking about at some point.Last edited: May 10, 2013
