eamac, Sorry to hear about all that, I am only going to say a little bit here.
I know that you are kind of new because of some of the things you said. I just want to tell you that it does not matter how much time they tell you have to move into a new truck. You should take as much time as you need to transfer to a new truck, don't hurry but don't screw around either. The first company I was with,( six months) I was in about four different trucks. I come home after along day and hear, I need for you to move out of that truck and into this one. An upgrade weather I wanted it or not. That kind of moving around causes you to be unfamiliar with the truck, easy to miss things. Buy a rechargable flashlight, a crank on the back, they are great and always work, well worth the money. You do not have to keep a truck spotless, consider this, you get fuel at least every second or third day. Why not use the trash can at the fuel island? You are there anyway. Always be aware of your location, if you are heading for Gary, or any term. take a minute and pickup the trash. They have a dumpster at Gary, pull up next to it and throw the crap in there. Also a good idea is keep a change of shoes handy when fueling or giong to Gary,
put the crap shoes on while walking in the mud and take 'em off when you get in the truck, keep a couple of cheap throw rugs in between the seats and wash them when you go home, just a suggestion. I believe the leading cause of new drivers quitting the industry is the frustration that they feel, during experiances like this one. drive55cat

I must say the only thing Maverick would have had against me is the fact that I was kinda slacking on scanning my DOT logs in, but, they never once said anything about it so I let it go on. I was never late to a delivery and I was very polite with other employees, even to the very end when the mechanic was giving me a ride to the bus station. We had a nice convo about what he was doing for the weekend and such. I took my firing quite well, although I am disappointed, I feel as though a local home nightly job sounds really good right now.

Well I called my recruiter yesterday to check on my paper that they sent me for my grant for school and I guess I've been on the waiting list for a couple of weeks now, which was good to hear. And she told me (of course) that it may be a couple of months before I could get down there.I obviously expected this from everybody elses threads on here that there is a wait. So I asked my boss If maybe after I go to school if I could come back and work until Mav calls, and he said If things pick up by March he would put me back in a truck, wich was pretty cool of him. So hopefully things pick up within a few weeks, I'm not gonna hold my breath though as it's slow everywhere right now. We haven't poured hardly any concrete at all this week, we've been cleaning on our trucks mostly. Anyway thought I would fill u all in on whats happening with me. I'm finally making some progress!

I can tell you that when I am not driving, I work in the construction and remodeling field. Right now that area is slow, my twenty year associate has told me this past year was the worst he has had in the past twenty-five years. drive55cat

Thanks. Yeah their good people. I'm going to wait it out, I think it will be worth it. I can find something to do until they call.
