I love my bat op grease gun I bought from harbor freight. works great & so much better than the old pistol grip pump. what I just learned was last week I hit the trigger & grease came out, so I thought I was good to go. hit all the zerks I needed to & watched the ole grease come out a lil. but not known by me was sometime while greasing, my grease cartridge went empty. it sounded & felt like I was greasing, but at some point I was just forcing air, which forced old grease out making the appearance the job was getting done. after noticing a sound on my spring shackle joints today. I figured out after checking my cartridge that I just put air on joints & pushed what grease was there out.
just is case any one needs this info. do I feel dumb.![]()

I have a lincoln csrdless one and you can tell the sound difference once it goes empty and it pumps faster

I would have probably done the same thing, but I've never used one. Been thinking about upgrading my $12 Taskforce piece of crap, though. What brand/model did you get?

Congrats for doing the simple act of greasing your own truck. This is the most effective method of preventive maintenance known to trucking. Forces you to crawl all over and under your truck to find things before they break. Not to mention making sure that each fitting your truck has actually gets grease.
I have used an air powered gun, but I prefer the manual. How much effort it takes to get grease into the fitting is one indicator of the condition of the parts. -
I got the $59.00 model on sale. with a 15 month warranty.

I have always service my truck for the last 13 years, I have maybe had my truck serviced 3 times in 13 years while on the road, due to time.

Ya you can tell the difference with a Lincoln. Lil pricey but a good gun.
