Cool, I am 99% sure I am going to make the switch to Maverick. I just can't decide on glass or FB.

Would you answer a few questions for me?

Is the glass division a lot harder work than flatbed is that why it pays better

Does the pay equal out in the end between glass and FB due to loading times?

With glass will you get to run out west more than staying mostly east of 35?

Recruiting says 10-12 trips a year to Canada, does that seem accurate?

Bathroom literature mostly....but I'm ALWAYS looking for a chance to improve my earning potential.

I also keep knocking around the idea of buying a truck and trailer...been doing that for years though, lol.

right time, right place, new to the company with a better looking tarp job than I would venture to say at least 85% of the trailers on the yard......"say CHEESE!!!"

Specialized pays 57 cents for OD loads...and a good 95% of them are OD.

But there are no openings in specialized right now and probably won't be until one of us retires (no idea when that might be)...you can always haul glass or steel though and wait for an opening...the experience gained from either glass or flatbed would make life a little easier than starting out in specialized anyway.

Most folks don't like specialized hauling....but those that do like it, don't wanna do anything else once they've had a taste of it.

You should be honored they asked. Its definitely not for everyone. You have to be extremely patient, like to repeat yourself a lot, like to explain what, and why you are doing something, before, during and after your doing/did it. Trainers do it for different reasons. Those that do it for the money are easy to spot. They have that peeved look because its taking their student longer to do something they can do a lot quicker by themselves. Those that do it so they have a ride along slave are not so easy to spot because they are in the air conditioned or heated sleeper while their student does everything by themselves. (that type may or may not have a coffee can behind the curtain to urinate in so as not to leave the comfort of the sleeper while his student slaves away by themselves securing, tarping, etc ) Personally, I like to see the look in a students eye when he, "gets it". They smile, not just because they are happy but because they are proud that they did it. They walk tall, shoulders back because they are not out of work, anymore. Most of all, I like when they call months after they are on their own and say thanks for doing things the way you did them, explaining what you were doing, as you did it. I picked up a load like that today and remembered what you said.
