8.14 mpg on this loadfrom the Tin Mill to Nextech. Lighter coil this time 39,000lbs. 58mph whole way here. Shift manually. Add FPPF to each tank at fill up. Uhh, its really no more complicated than that Captain!

 

I use a different white bottle. It improves mileage, increases power, and also has a degeller for those cold mornings. Good stuff. My worst mpg was 7.87, my best was 8.49. I think that's pretty impressive for a loaded truck.

 

Depends on the weight of the loads, the hills on the roads, winds, wet or dry roads, air pressure in the tires, air temperature outside, foot to the floor or "relaxed driving style" speed of take offs from start, average cruising speed, climbing style when going up long ascents, acceleration style when you crest the hills, etc. Your TCD division, a 53 foot billboard or parachute follows you wherever you go. We're flatbed, slow and low, that's how we roll. My motto, "they beep, I creep" 57 on the flats 59 in the rolling hills. I don't worry about what's behind me, its in the past. I could care less if the solar powered go go go go go go backseat drivers are right on my tail and driving my truck better than I can of course by using their 1000000000 watt, kc 5000000 supertrucker mellow fellow cb radio with the best coax known to man that can hear transmissions from the space station orbiting above. as long as i'm within the minimum speed for the roadway and the speed limit, i'm not a rolling roadblock, the tailgaters are unsafe, unobservant drivers that I see coming from a mile behind me that wait til the last minute to change lanes and have to B!@#$ about it on the radio, because they are too unobservant to realize the object they see in the windshield appears to be getting larger (their gaining on it) and have to blame some one (you) for their inefficiency so yakkity yak they go on the cb, B!@#$ at you, swing 1/2 off the left shoulder, hammer past you, and swing 1/2 off the right shoulder in front of you before recovering and slowly disappearing in front of you. care to insult my efficiency on the cb, free country, care to pull into the next truck stop, we can discuss it over a cup of coffee. care to take a swing at me or make me feel threatened, ever see the movie Quigley Down Under? He didn't like pistols. No I DONT CARRY A GUN ANYMORE (driver not deputy sheriff anymore) back to the Quigley reference. I don't like to fight but will defend myself. bigger than me? you will be perceived as a threat and considered such as long as you are still moving. lol

 

Sunday's beep for 050513 was Tariff: 6.742, Hub: 7.409, OOR: 9.896. Three fuelstops this week, 6.93, 7.77 (sewerman, head to the casino), and 6.97. Winds, weight, weather and Carolinas this week, heck for the past month but with the load out of majestic to Mississippi, appears the Carolina curse is over for the moment. Parked at home last night with over 60 gallons used and 8.15 on the dash display. 15 skidded coils. belly loaded, nice and low, taut tarp covering it, tailwind 42760 lb load, 59 mph, cruise control, manually shifted.

 

wrote a paper one page easy read titled it my 2 cents worth re fuel milage and fuel bonus program at the time. Mama Kay can still give you a copy if she can find it on her computer. Like jim said, I think I posted it in my blog. I guess with the new PFP coming soon to a Maverick near you, it should be retitled "Sixth Cents" lol

 

well after what Sarge said I just can't add anything more. I have been hauling a lot of steel plates. Low to the deck and low wind resistance. Picked up a big aluminum coil out of Arkansas going to Terre Haute Indiana. I got 8 miles to the gallon with that load. Another driver which is a friend of mine had the same load when he got there I asked him what he got for mileage he's was 7.2 I will say 35%of fuel mileage is driver related.and he has one of them new DD13 12 speed trucks.

Sunday's beep is still 7.8 out of route 12%

my last years fuel average was 7.5 it can be done there are drivers that get better mileage than me. And Sarge is one of of them.
