Hate to see this stuff. It's not a matter of skill in avoiding involvement these accidents, it's a matter of luck.
That being said, skill DOES play a big part in the AVOIDANCE of causing such tragedies.
I was kinda surprised no one had already mentioned this wreck.

wow, was just there last night, thats a upsetting

IF(and only if) the driver really did fail to stop(as reported) then pretty self explanitory, "luck" had nothing to with it. But if the cars were cutting in front of him to beat him to the back up then thats a whole different story.(that won't be reported I'm guessing)

I'm missing something here? Traffic stopped from a previous wreck and a truck driver plows into them on flat ground. I can't see how there is an excuse or a matter of luck? It sounds like to me someone not paying attention. You know the CB was alive with reports.
It's sad these ladies lost their lives and I offer my condolences to the families. Looking at the driver's FB page he also looks like a nice, educated person that just messed up and now has to live with this. His profile says he works for Swift. Do they pull containers?
Though driver's have a split second to make a decision there is a time you don't brake and hope but take evasive action like hitting the median or shoulder. Nobody wants to go into the median but consider the alternative. All drivers should have a bag of tricks and not drive by the seat of their pants. -
so CC i notice that this is the 2nd time you have referred to a FB page on an accident thread....what do you do, look em up after you see an accident??? sneaky sneaky.....
sad deal.... -

I guess didn't make myself clear. I was speaking of luck or bad luck in a different context. Luck to survive. Skill to avoid.
Your comment was dead-on correct. -
It's as simple as Googling the name. If someone doesn't know how/doesn't care to adjust the privacy settings on their FB, then their little lives are public, and for all to see. It certainty can give us more insight into some of these drivers than a semi literate TV station copy writer. While we're at it, Google yourself and see what you can see...
