If you knew me, you would see I'm as far away from a company kiss ### as anyone could be.
I'm just not stupid and understand why Schneider has such policies....cause too many drivers are either too stupid or too lazy to use good judgement and stop wasting fuel.
If you don't like it...go drive for someone else.

Solution. Law says you can't idle longer then a period of time, but does it say anything about intermittent idling? (turning off engine when you reach the idle time limit and then turn it back on). Also the idle law is exempt in extreme weather conditions. And its also one of the many laws that are the least enforced even in perfect weather. When is the last time you saw a trooper going around the truck stops telling drivers to shut off their engines in 70 degree weather?ethos Thanks this.

That would be never. But give it a minute and someone on here will know a guy who.....
-
Good for you...
It's that kind of ignorance that's will eventually lead to an even MORE strict idle policy.
So keep on idling and maybe we can get a 100% no idling, no matter what policy !!
Whoohooo! -
If we get a no idle policy then I will get a new job. If I am hot I will idle and that doesn't make me a worse driver than you. Go ahead and have your holier than thou attitude but you don't idle because you don't sleep well with the noise or the vibration. You don't do it to save fuel, that is a happy by product that you are claiming credit for. It's great you can sleep with a fan when it is 77 outside and sunny. But get over yourself, your not special.

I never said I don't idle just to save SNI fuel costs...
I said I understand why SNI has such a strict idle policy
I understand that it IS my job to help SNI make money...too
AND....I like to bonus, SNI pays me an extra 2 cpm to NOT idle.
An extra $500 a quarter is good motivation for me to keep my idle time to a minimal.
Ya know....It's only going to get more strict if drivers continue to use poor judgement and idle for stupid reasons like...it's 77 degrees outside.
This hurts us all.Last edited: May 10, 2013

Or get into wrecks for stupid reasons like, I was trying to save fuel and didn't sleep well. And you have taken credit for saving fuel and accused others of needlessly, in your opinion, burning fuel so yes you are up on your high horse.

People idling isn't why theirs a law against it. Its a competition by your local politicians to see how many stupid laws they can get passed. They don't care about you, or anyone for that matter. As long as they have the power they will always make laws, whether its harmful to others or not, but alas, I'm probably in the schneider forum and don't realize it.
In the essence of the company, they don't care about you. Same as my company. That's why I don't care if they make money or not. Just as long as I get the money *I* worked for (not them), I'm happy

If someone can't handle 77 degree weather, and it becomes a safety issue, then they just need to find a new line of work.
They are way too soft to handle trucking.
Toughen up or ship out...that's my opinion.
Yet another example of the wussification of America! -
Man... You've got all the answers huh cowboy?
