Its in black and white on his evaluation for this week and transflowed yesterday eve on the way home. So is "should he run over a curb one more time, he will not be allowed to operate the Maverick equipment assigned to me." We both signed, he knows, choice is his or Maverick's at this point. I inquired as to a CDL school At Maverick HQ last year. "Never happen" was the response. Happening now at 11812 Maverick Transportation Drive, Anywhere, U.S.A. 12345. He's at 5 weeks now away from wife and children. 3 more weeks will put him at 2 months. MY OPINION: 1. reassignment. 2. Backing practice at HQ followed by simulator test/ road test to decide future employment with Maverick. 3. Reassignment to an instructor closer to home such as the CDL School he went to that GAVE him his cdl. I can not sit in the bobblehead seat and watch him time after time put us in potentially company equipment/ customer or private property damage situations because he was GIVEN what he didn't earn. It's not that he doesn't want to learn or do the job, just thrown out there WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY TO SOON from his money hungry, on site instructor tested CDL school he attended.

And that's what is wrong with trucking today. Instead of regulating the hell out of the drivers that at least somewhat know what they're doing, they need to be regulating the schools that are putting these guys on the road with no real training. It's not the newbies' fault, they want to learn and become truckers. I don't understand why the FMCSA is allowing those schools to make it so #### difficult. TEACH THEM WHAT THEY NEED TO KNOW, AND FOR A REASONABLE PRICE.

its all about the Benjamins sir, all about the Benjamins

Schools don't issue CDL's, States do.

Thank you all for the replies. I think I'm going to go with flatbed that gets you home weekends. I'm sure if I tell my DM I want to stay out he wouldn't argue... I am tired of sitting on my arse all day doing nothing but waddling my arse back to open the doors every other day.
On a side note, I just got accepted into the Millis driver trainer program. So I am going to try one student. If I don't like it then come July I am Maverick boundsewerman Thanks this. -
well when you get tired of hauling beer. and you just want to drink it on the weekend you know where were at. Wish you the best of luck at the training hope you get a good student to start with. -
Yep. this guys cdl school evidently had an instructor employed at the cdl shool, certified by the state to issue the driving test. $2500 for a cdl and the first day in the truck with me he asks which way to turn the wheel to pull out of a parking space to line it up to the left? After 3 weeks in the truck still cannot straight line back without getting way off center with no clue as to how to get it set up again?!?!? RIDICULOUS!!! They took his money. period. Said it before, If Maverick would have a simple straight line backing course (parking space would work), and have ALL drivers take it, my students lack of knowledge as to which way to turn the steering wheel would have been noticed and possibly corrected before getting off Maverick property. I'm not the only instructor that has had this problem, and talking with the other instructors, the students that seem to have the most problems are those that come out of the cdl schools with the instructors certified by the state to issue the backing test to get the cdl.

picking up Sunday at US going to Springdale.
On a side note Sarge I would still have to ask him if he ever thought of the hospitality industry trucking isn't for everybody. Or maybe drive a cab were his lack of driving abilities would go unnoticed. LOL -
Just out of curiosity, What was the school if you don't mind saying?

Pardon the interruption but I want to send out a thanks to the Tech's in Laurinburg for fixing issues with my truck and getting me re-equiped.
