    Some do some don't.

I think it may have something to do with their insurance carriers plan.

    I'm allowed to have passengers.

depends on the company. Most will if they are approved to be a rider. BUT it all has to do with the company you sign with. I believe CRE will let your spouse ride with you just have to talk to safety and corprate. Most of the time a rider just has to fill out the paperwork. I can't have anybody in my tractor that isn't involved with my company insurance only covers employee's and partners.

In a lot of cases they are not allowed to hold a CDL.

You may have to wait a little while before they let you have a passenger. No incidents accidents or tickets.

most times from what i've seen, especially OTR, they dont have a problem with it. companies vary by who can ride, but spouses are usually the first on the allowed list. last company i was with allowed anyone, with age restrictions during certain times of the year and a fee for insurance (was pretty cheap), current company it has to be a relative.

Like Balakov100 said. Many times a CDL holder won't be allowed to be a passenger. Some companies will worry that the passenger will try to drive went they aren't cleared to. Also can cause issues at a weigh station. Some DOT officers will ask "is this really a passenger, or a codriver with no logbook?".That happened to my older brother. He has a CDL, but isn't a driver anymore. Was a passenger in a friends truck. The scale just south of Kansas City at Harrisonville, Mo gave him and the driver a bunch of grief.

My aunt and uncle are team drivers who are otr....needless to say they always fight and have had too much "together time".Just know It might work for you and it may not.Every marriage is different. On the upside it can be a great way to see the world together on someone elses money. But to answer the question, depends on the company. The company my aunt and uncle work for love them because they have made loads in record time.Just something to think about....
