I wish you the best Bobby but you said you still have to take off sometimes because of your health. Is this gonna keep you from getting your medical card? That seems like your biggest hurdle to me. With that in hand you should be able to work as an owner operator and roll at your own pace. Companies aren't so willing to let you take extended time off on a irregular basis as that truck has to keep rolling.

I think that this business has a place for ANYBODY who shows an attitude and willingness to work, regardless of circumstances. I think that if you are honest and upfront, you are going to find that people are going to be honest with you. It doesn't really matter how big or small the company is. Just be honest about your situation, and all they can tell you is yes or no. I don't think you will get "blacklisted for being honest with people about your circumstances. If you get sick on the job, there is always the FMLA thing where you have a certain amount of unpaid time off for medical issues with your employer that is guaranteed by the government. My advice would be, again, be honest and upfront with the companies you talk to, be them big or small. If you are interested in a particular company, always, always, always, and yea, always, get everything in writing. Make sure there is a clear understanding of the expectations of both sides.

Something just hit me- are you going to have trouble getting your medical card? This could all be moot depending on that.

Which makes sense right... Although I am not looking for special treatment, I want to make sure I'm not going to be that "unreliable" person. I'm an honest, hard working guy - - with health issues I can't prevent. Thanks for the comments.

Great advice! And I will absolutely do that... Medical card.... well, without getting into specifics I think I can pass. Been through it before (obviously) but worried about the side effects from the brain intrusion! Nasty little tumor! Quoting my doctor, "It's a good tumor in a very bad place". 20% of that lil M.F. is still hanging around. ha-ha. (I'm laughing??? really??) Oh well, thanks again sir!
