Believe it or not I got a pretty reasonable rate out of them. But I already insure two motorcycles and three vehicles through them,
so I think thats why. I got million dollar on just about everything on coverages except where it was not required. I went by the most common industry standard, and they helped with that. I got a quote from gieco thats was real close to what I was getting through progressive.

One reason why I don't offer advice is because I get to read all of this.
A lot of good advice for those who want to listen. -
You sound like you have a leg up on getting going, the only thing that would make me really nervous about being in your situation is the under capitalization... otherwise, I think you're fine.... If it was me I would lease to a larger carrier at first and bank some sure money, if you choose the wrong small carrier you can end up broke in a hurry.......beware anyone who tells you that you need to go through a probationary period while they check you out... if anyone should be on probation it's the carrier you're leasing onto.... in other words, they should be proving to you, from day one, what they can do for you, what they can provide as far as earning revenue through their system...
I wish you the best of luck.Excorcist1, michaelbunt and osumike33 Thank this. -

New news sold the 2004 truck, for a good bit more than I paid, bought a 99 frieghtliner century class, 10 spd road ranger,
460 detroit. Brand new APU carrier. I bought it from an elderly lady, who husband was driving it. He passed away last year right after he
had the apu installed, I knew the old man, he always serviced the truck, and I got a stack of paper work from when he bought it brand new
and service history from day 1. I got a steal of a deal, the lady wanted it gone, Just got it inspected and dot stickers for 2013, IFTA and all that, leasing on to crst malone signing this week, Ill let any body that wants to know how they are with o\o. Ill post pics of my truck asap. It needs a good wash and compounding cuase it was sitting for about 8 months since his death. Yes I bought an older truck but for what I paid I wont lose money on the truck, and If it runs for 6 months I will make profit on it. I could sell the apu for what I paid for the truck and get my money back. Just updating whats going on, thanks to everybody for their advice and I will keep updating.MNdriver Thanks this. -
well how is everything going???
-
well I've been running hard so I haven't had time to post, I didn't go with CRST Malone because they had to hang up with the last months of experience
I had. they told me to go drive somewhere for a month and then come back. so I lease to US Xpress.
I've got a good dispatcher and I run good miles.
I'm making real good money so I can't complain.
when I get a year experience I'm going over to Land star to run step deck. US Xpress is not a bad company but I don't like getting paid to sliding scale. however I don't have to pay 4 lumpers, tags, or permits. I say if you own your truck, they're not a bad place to start out as an owner operator. if you get a good dispatcher. -
Heres a pic of my truck
