I hear that. I'm on my 3rd week pulling tanks. My last check grossed $1350. It's nice when the paychecks reflect the work we do.
-
it sure does and if you are like me..seems like there is actullay less physical work in load unloading a tank than humping freight or restacking palletts lol
love to see a lumper jump in in my tank and pull the load off LMAO -
4 weeks into it, I'm finding that I"m making less than I did on the dollar store accounts, but more than I did hauling general freight on a dry van. I"m at 17/hr with no overtime no matter how much I work. I thought I was doing good last week with 55 hours at quitting time on Thursday but then we got rained out on Friday. It seems that farmers don't want manure delivered to the fields in the middle of a rain storm. I think after a raise or 2 I'll be doing alright. Manure isn't very glamorous but it's good hours and country roads with little or no traffic to deal with. We also haul milk, water, sand and grain. If nothing else, it's some good experience to take with me down the road if this doesn't turn into a long term job. I"m getting experience hauling smooth bore tankers with multiple axles. Our milk tankers have 8 axles. We're grossing around 75-80 tons when we're full. I'll also get some experience with doubles within the next few months. I'm sleeping at home every night with is far better than sleeping in a dollar store parking lot in a different city every night.

A lot less work. I pull in to the rack. Sit while another guy loads me, drive to my destination, hook up my hoses, start the pump and then sit until I'm unloaded. Once unloaded I put away my hoses and drive to the next load. I'm not sitting for hours waiting for my next load either......like I did when I pulled dry vans.

That's nice. I always wanted to start with Tankers right from the get-go and stick with them for the long haul (No pun).
Tankers are more interesting to me than Vans starting out. It's just that niche thing, you know?
Having my TWIC/Tanker/Hazmat starting out seems like a good thing I suppose.
Worse comes to worse..If I had to start Vans to get experience I would do it right away. Luckily I found a company that hires grads fresh from school to start Tankers. I'm happy.
Just waiting for that freakin' Hazmat to get back in the mail. lol
Can't wait to get started.

The thing is both the Democrats and the Republicans have been bringing in so many people from third world countries over the last years that it is a lot harder to "just not take it" when it comes to job offers. Somebody is right there that lives four families to a two room apartment that is willing to take it.

Immigrants make up a very small percentage of CDL mill students . Naive wannabes will work even cheaper than immigrants .

I am not really talking about the trucker mill schools. I am talking about the people that are here being taken advantage of by these rat companies, I am not just talking about immigrants like I am mad about immigration, that is always the assumption people make because they are brainwashed into thinking that way, no, I am saying that this country is full of people that are used to living and working in desperate conditions, and that takes away opportunities of those that are already U.S. citizens, and it also takes advantage of the illegal immigrants. The point I am making is that if there are even more unemployed people pouring in every day ready to work for even less, it is a race to the bottom and the fat cat sweat shop company owners just get richer.

Cryo companies, as with all chemical companies, are very anal about safety. Not wearing your PPE is a bigger sin than being late at the customer site. You will follow procedures. Period. If you can't do that then you will be asked to leave. Play the game and you will be rewarded with very good pay and very good benefits.
Oil Jockey Thanks this.
