But across the street at the Pilot/J, they said you could.
Then the waiter came and they changed their mind. -
Under Federal law, it used to be illegal to carry a firearm in a CMV. Now it's not, provided you abide by the state and local laws of which are different from jusrisdiction to jurisdiction. Mostly it applies to concealed carry / handguns. If you're wanting on-truck protection mainly, and don't need to carry on your person, leave your handgun at home and stash your short barreled (legal length) shotgun on the truck instead. Most of the 48 states in the lower USA don't prohibit shotguns. Besides, if you need it to defend youself on / around the truck, a shotgun is much more effective for close quarters engagements, IMO.
"They" don't want Americans armed. If they want to nail you, they'll nail you. Even if it doesn't stick, you might beat the rap, but you won't beat the ride. All you can do is CYA and be compliant with the rules. Here's a link to the NRA-ILA regarding transportation of firearms (including shotgun & rifle) in states with specific language about the required protocol. http://www.nraila.org/gun-laws/articles/2010/guide-to-the-interstate-transportation.aspxLast edited: May 12, 2013

Then it will be easy for you to quote the law that prohibits it. Good luck.Busasamurai and daddy2twins Thank this.

Would like to see the law on this .. It is legal to carry without a permit until you cross out of your state lines then you fall under there laws. There is no such law in Commercial Trucking to stop you from carrying a firearm in your truck.

I Know for a FACT , In New York you will get locked up. They do not care about your home state , and unless you have a N.Y.S. carry permit , they do not recognize out of state permits , except law enforcement. All of that aside , when there is a forum like this , the only thing it shows me , is that there are a bunch of LOOSERS and WIMPS in the trucking industry , I live in the BRONX , and I NEVER had to have a Gun at Work , and anyone who has to Drive around with a gun while at work is a PUNK . GROW UP AND GROW A PAIR OF B**** and go to work , and don't worry about making deliveries with a gun......
Ghost Ryder Thanks this. -
Maybe maybe not but it certainly is far as companies are concerned.Name 1 company that would allow drivers to carry firearms in the trk, just one.

Yes I do , and have been in the trucking industry for 25 years and NEVER had to carry a gun in my truck EVER , if anyone has to carry a gun in a truck , only means there SCARED and people who are SCARED should not own a gun ..........
