murder by gun last year over 1.300

In 2011 57% of ALL homicides in NY were gun related.
Type "driver shot" into a web search engine... I'd say there's a lot of reason to carry while driving.
Nighthawk325 Thanks this. -
There is no national reciprocity law...unless you are LEO or retired LEO. Illinois has no means for any law-abiding citizen to legally carry, other than the aforementioned LEO and retired LEOs.
Appellate Court, not the Supreme Court. The law is still on the books until the 180 day deadline expires....June 9.
I don't live in a town with its own police force. The sheriff's department is 8 miles away. At the very LEAST, it would take 10 minutes for them to get here. Personally, I won't dial 911. 911 is for emergencies, and by the time I'm worrying about calling for help the emergency has been dealt with. When seconds matter, the police are minutes away.
Is your life worth any less when you are in your truck than it is when you are at home? I ask because you say that "a gun is for house and family protection"...but that it is somehow makes you less of a man if to carry that same gun with you while you are out on the road. You state that "if you feel you need a gun at work , change your job." Why don't you simply move to a safer neighborhood if you feel that you need a gun to protect your home?
The right to defend yourself does not end when you walk out of your front door. You have no less of a right to protect yourself while you are laying in the bunk at a truck stop in BFE than when you are at home in your own bed. -
I don't want to fight, that's the whole point. If someone is attacking me they are trying to hurt me. If you don't think you can be killed in a fist fight you are sorely mistaken. There was just an incident in Utah where a 17 year old kid punched a soccer referee in the head and the referee went in to a coma and died.
I will make this as clear as I can. If someone attacks me I will defend myself with up to and including deadly force if needed. I am not going to rely on my attackers good nature to stop attacking me if he thinks I might get hurt. If you choose not to carry, that is your right. I choose to carry and do so in a legal and lawful manner, that is my right. I will say this again, you have the right to your opinion. I have the right to think that opinion is utter nonsense. -

Heck, I could pull these up all night but ya know what. If ya wanna beat your chest and talk about how you don't need a gun more power to ya. If ya wanna carry just do so legally and avoid the areas talked about back at the beginning of this thread. You can't avoid every bad area.VisionLogistics and daddy2twins Thank this. -
You see where we have gone wrong here, you started with calling folks phony tough guys and insulted them otherwise when you started this debate. There is no longer such a thing as a friendly debate in this country. You know nothing about these people and their reason for feeling a need to carry. Guess what, there are places in this country, yes, where it can take police up to thirty minutes to respond. Mainly in the more rural areas. And, in the bigger cities and towns, it can take a few minutes for somebody to get help to you, depending on time of day or what is going on. A lot of damage can be done in a couple minutes. You don't know me no more than I know anything about you or your situation. I hurled back at you because you started with insults to begin with when none were needed. Where one lives doesn't make them any better or worse of a man, nor does it impress anybody. Exercising ones right to carry a weapon does not make them a bad person anymore than it makes them a tough guy!Nighthawk325, flood and grizzly Thank this.

I remember one company I worked for paid for a $10,000 life insurance policy on behalf of every single one of their drivers...but at the same time prohibited their drivers from carrying any type of weapon on the truck capable of protecting the life that policy insured. One of the first dispatches I received over the quallcomm from them, the directions to the shipper stated in no uncertain terms: "No overnight parking. Unsafe neighborhood."
Now I've never heard of any criminal attack being thwarted by the presence of a life insurance policy. A .45 is a much more effective tool for that job.grizzly, roadlt and Nighthawk325 Thank this. -
It's amazing how effective a sig 2022 is at deterring that 3am robbery in Brooklyn. No cops, no shots, no questions, no problem. Moving on...
-
The first thing I would do is, not park there overnight! If you parked there and had to shoot somebody the question the police will ask, after they find out about the qual come message, is, you were told by your company not to park there overnight, why did you park there? I'm not knocking
you, because I would want a gun if I chose to park there in that situation. I'm just pointing out what can happen. A debate without insults!
