I think a common misconception is that the police prevent crime. They in fact, do not. Their job is to respond AFTER a crime has been committed or is in progress. Also, the supreme court has ruled that the police have no duty to protect you. Do they get lucky sometimes and prevent crime, yes, but normally that is not the case.
I carry because in a lot of instances, by the time the police arrive, it's too late.
Is it legal to conceal carry with permit in a semi

I don't live in the Bronx where the next cop is a block away. I live in a small town out in the country. At any given time, we have 2 cops on patrol. One is city and the other is county. And BTW, I'm personal friends with both.
And if they have guns, that's exactly my point. You don't bring a knife to a gun fight.
Yes, I know how to fight. Just because I carry a sidearm doesn't conclude it's my first option.
It's a choice. A legal choice protected by the 2nd amendment. You may not like guns, but consider the fact that it's the 2nd amendment which makes all the others possible. If you don't like my choice to carry, I don't give a rats. My guns are legal, and I'm legal to carry. That should be all you worry about.Last edited: May 12, 2013
brsims Thanks this. -
########. I'm the least scared person out there when my gun is by my side.
You don't understand the reasoning behind gun ownership or the second amendment. Another brainwashed liberal who appears to think all unions are good and gun owners are wackos who are "scared". Enjoy those way above average taxes for nothing in return that you get up there.Last edited by a moderator: May 13, 2013
Ghost Ryder and brsims Thank this. -
Sometimes the police make it worse; like show up and shoot the family dog, yell at the wife and arrest the husband. If they have time after the reports, they might document the description of the burglars... maybe.OPUS 7 Thanks this.

I think this is the longest lived gun in truck thread I've seen in awhile. Though its gone off a bit, it's also a fairly civilized one as well.
Ghost Ryder Thanks this. -
Hey UNIONMAN! Since you like to hurl insults at others, calling them phony tough guys because the need a weapon for self defense, WHY DO YOU NEED A UNION TO PROTECT YOU? we can easily call you a phony tough guy for hiding behind a union? Just making a point union man!grizzly, djtrype and Ghost Ryder Thank this.

Compared to national debate... I would agree.
I think these threads usually go as follows...
OP: Can I carry?
D1: No you can't it's against some untraceable law.
D2: You can but it would be illegal in some places.
D3: No you can carry anywhere.
D1: No I say the law of moldy cheese prohibits you from carrying.
D3: The 2nd protects you.
D1: NRA lies!!! Guns kill people not protect them you don't need one use a butter knife.
D2: Guns save lives so I carry.
D1: Rightwing nutjob.
D3: Libtard
(note: op hasn't been seen since)
D1: I see truckers get arrested all the time for carrying.
D2: They were breaking some local law that prohibited them.
D1: NO!!! It was the mystery law that doesn't exist!!! I heard it from a guy who knew a guy who's cousin's nephew was arrested for carrying a black powder musket on a Sunday during planetary alignment of Mars and Jupiter...
Rinse wash repeat until the lock and next thread on the subject opens up.
That about sum it up?brsims, flood, Taildragon and 3 others Thank this. -
I didn't park there overnight. Noticeably missing from the dispatch was the time of day at which the neighborhood would cease being "unsafe", at which point I could feel safe while making my way to the shipper. Nor did they mention what sort of dangers might be lurking in that neighborhood for me to keep an eye out for them. Was the neighborhood "unsafe" for their equipment, with vandals and thieves running around? Or was it "unsafe" for the drivers, full of robbers and murderers? I didn't have much interest in learning that information the hard way...

Ca is not nearly as bad as NJ is
grizzly Thanks this. -
This is true. CA DoJ allows for a handgun of 10 rds or less to be kept in the domicile portion of a vehicle for protection as well as a shotgun of 5rds or less. (other laws apply but this is the summary I got when I called) NJ slaps the cuffs on ya without even blinking.grizzly Thanks this.
