I deviate from the suggested route quite often. They want me to take a couple of state highways on the route from I-39 to the Nashville area but I stay on I-57 to I-24. Their route might be shorter mileage-wise, but several times I have taken their route on other loads (US-45 up through MS & TN from Cherokee, US-41 off I-65 in IN to TN) and regretted it. I hit every small town and 20 mph speed limit in western TN and/or IN! As long as you hit your fuel stop (and do not get lost) they will not say anything.

Yeah that suggested route from Cherokee to Neenah is really bad. I looked at it on my map and didn't even try. Google maps even said it was literally the same amount of time if you take 57 even though that route is about 75 miles longer. I haven't noticed much of a discrepancy in my paid miles though. They even seem to be paying me for taking 294 around Chicago instead of the black pit of despair that is trying to drive through.

I have the TransFlo app, but haven't had the need to use it yet. I might give it a whirl at my girlfriend's house after I finish up tomorrow just for kicks.

For trips that have a lot of paperwork I'll use the scanner. But for ones with only a few things to scan I like not having to either find a place to scan or wait for someone else to get done using it.

That's the big thing, is hitting those fuel stops. I go the fastest way, not the shortest. I'll just make up this unpaid miles with more miles at the end of the week with the hours I saved, and with less stress. If I know I'm gonna miss a fuel stop I just send a message to change it to something on my route, no issues.

Do you send the message to your dispatcher? I sometimes feel bad about sending her messages. She probably gets a ####ton every hour.

Yeah, I send a free form or if I'm low and can't make next solution I'll send the fuel level update one. I send them over the Qualcomm as my dispatcher would rather me do that than call him. He said he gets wayyyyyyy too many phone calls about issues that don't need phone calling and that's one of them.

Picked up load going to Clarksville after doing my road test which lasted forever. Started looking for a place to park because I was running out on my 14 what a mess. Didn't have enough time to make it to Effingham, rest area is closed and every place is packed. So I will be doing the call of shame this more for violation.

Meet my new dispatcher yesterday, she impressed me by her willingness to say she was new and learning. She didn't try to pretend she knew things. Cash of course greeted everyone in the yard. I swear that dog knows more people than I do.

Don't worry, I had to do the safe haven thing to. My 14 was up at 1315 central yesterday and my load didn't pick up until 1300 pacific. In Carson, CA, the land of truck parking. So I called logs to let them know and talked to Terry let him know and he said that I had no choice. First time I've had to do this so I really didn't know what to do.

Glad to hear your dispatcher is willing to learn and doesn't claim to know everything. I hope it all works out for you, and things can only be on the up and up.
