Whatever you do...DO NOT pay the ticket. The consequences of that will be paramount.
You must fight it...especially for that speed. We all make mistakes and I got a ticket in the San Joaquin valley for 65/55. I retained the Crowell Law firm in Sacramento who got the charge completely dismissed. However I have no idea if they would take a case in southern Cal.
I found Crowell thru www.tixnix.com. You enter your information and then a lawyer from that area will contact you for a free consultation. If they think you have a case they will discuss fees, etc. There is no obligation to retain the lawyer.Nomad505 Thanks this. -
I got a third lane violation ticket once. A lawyer wanted $500 to fight it. I said no thanks and just paid the fine but it was a conviction that haunted me for three years.

In that case drivertobroker it is a judgement call. How much is it worth to you?
How will it affect your CSA score? Can you stand the points? Will it prevent you from pursuing opportunities with other carriers? Will it raise or cancel your insurance?
All things to consider before you decide if it is worth the lawyers fee or not. -
U need one of those once in a while to straight u up. There is good lawyers out of Fontana I went thru TVC so far they have beat two speeding tickets for me both at the grapevine and both with in my first yr and a half of driving. Now 5 yrs later I drive relaxed chilled and with my eyes on the needle it ain't a race u wanna pass me well pass me ain't no biggie.
Big_D409 and hagarcobra Thank this. -
They did until about 15 years ago when their interests successfully lobbied for change.
Are you seriously defending someone who was caught driving 26mph over the limit? If nothing else, think how poorly that reflects on our industry to law enforcement & the general public. "Draconian" laws don't just happen out of legislative boredom -- a few idiots doing stupid, selfish stuff bring people's attention to the larger group as a whole and then they think "hmm, what can we do about this?" -- and always come up with an imperfect solution. -
25 over in commercial truck is serious business Commie-fornia. Get yourself a lawyer. Pronto.

Well now we have "The State of Jeffererson" chiming in.....LOL!! What happened to the "Don't Tread On Me" attitude you "commie sellout"........there is such a thing as not interfering with interstate commerce. If a road limits you to only one way in or out of a customer you must be allowed to gain access to and from the customer except in the name of safety which is as usual open for interpretation. I didn't write the law but I know how to use it to my advantage. This and the fact there were no black and white signs posted either prohibiting or restricting that roadway to certain vehicles is how I beat all of my overlength citations. I took the time to take pictures and draw diagrams as well as typing a well thought out legal arguement and the court found for me each time.
So put that in your "bigfoot dung pipe" and smoke it....and would you please return that sign to where you stole it.....I helped pay for that sign and don't think it's a bit funny.....btw, NO, I don't plan on providing trucking services to your room so no reason to designate it as an approved STAA route.

Whether he fights it or not, he was caught red handed. All a lawyer can legally do is get any points removed from his CDL, and even that by itself is highly unlikely. The ticket will still appear on his MVR.

dam that is an expensive ticket. I got caught going 67 just south of button willow, ca and cost me 700 bucks. I can only imagine what 81mh is. Lucky you didn't get a wreckless driving charge. Either way, ouch. Go to court. Ask for a reduction in fine and ask to lower down to maybe 69. Cali chp usually let you go at 62-63. But no way in hell your getting out of it over that. Any higher speed and you might as well send me the money instead of supporting the county.Ghost Ryder Thanks this.
