Jakaby, these are the same rules I live by for as well. Plus I also live by "Do to others as you would have them do to you."
I will keep everyone updated on my progress as well.

Storm, Good read with your post here. Very good advice on the diet as it applies to EVERYONE as far as their individual health goes. I was diagnosed as being pre-diabetic about three years back and was a bit overweight (5'9"-240#). I changed how I approached eating and as you, stopped eating anything with processed sugar, wheat, barley, malt, rice and pastas. I also began eating very lean as far as meats go; Fish, Skinless Chicken, a minimal amount of pork or beef. Chia seeds were the best thing I added to my diet compliments of my son's suggestion. I have never heard of the cinnamon supplements but will try it. MY A1C is 5.1 now and my fasting Glucose around 100. For anyone looking to change their outlook and health I would recommend looking into the diets for diabetics and adapting it to their normal eating habits. For me, it was easy enough and once I began I noticed an immediate increase in overall feeling of well being. I noticed a boost in both my energy level and alertness. It was like a governor was removed from my metabolism. I am waiting as well for a call to begin orientation in Glass. From reading and following the threads from other Maverick drivers I think the wait is worth it. I had to make financial arrangements to enable it and that has lengthened the wait. I was Also a Postal worker for 27 years and 3 weeks as of April 4th. I saw the writing on the wall and it was no longer the same company I hired in with back in 86. I am not bashing it at all, it is simply a lumbering ship afflicted with understeer and overpowering currents to deal with. I am looking forward to working for Maverick for as long as possible. I am not one to jump around from job to job and this choice seems a wise one from this side of the fence.

Update; just got a call from Mr. Bone and will be heading out of Dallas on the way to Little Rock on Saturday. I am grateful for this opportunity and looking forward to the challenge.

Thanks Jak, I read you 5x5 on that one. My wife is from your neck of the woods, Greenville and when her Dad was alive we hunted right outside of Grenada. I miss the fishing in the oxbows and hearing hounds running in the bottoms.

Well it is time for another update! Today I took my CDL skills test for the second time! The first time I passed my pretrip inspection, but failed my maneuverability. There are three steps to the Ohio test, the pretrip, maneuverability (straight backing, lane change, and either parallel parking or alley dock). The thing I failed on last time was parallel parking. I just couldn't get it in there no matter how hard I tried and my nerves were high! This time around since I had already passed pretrip I didn't have to do that again. So started on maneuvers I got through straight line backing just fine. Then I had lane change to the right and did that just fine. Then once again I had parallel parking! Well this time I passed it and was able to move on to the road test! I was still nervous this time around, but not as bad as last time. The road test isn't too bad they have you turn left three times and turn right three times, do a few lane changes, an emergency stop. they also have you go on the highway for one exit. Once we got back though I almost forgot to push the clutch in and the truck almost stalled! Which would have been an automatic failure, lucky for me I remembered and stomped the clutch in. SAVE! Then I asked the examiner how I did she said well lets go inside and let me add all of this up. She then asked how I think I did. I said I think I did pretty good! Well, turns out I did do pretty well because I PASSED! I now am the proud owner of a CDL class A licence! Now I just need to get my medical all cleared up and I should be on my way to orientation sometime in June! I'm very excited!
