I live in the west valley (Phoenix AZ) there are HUGE cross docks popping up all over here. Im talking about 200-300 doors. 51st ave and Buckey rd, 107th and I-10... These places are the biggest (sq ft) buildings in AZ. The people who own those buildings along with Swift, Knight, JB etc are going to be all over Sacramento next year making sure CARB is enforcing their new rules (soon to be laws). Currently CARB can do nothing, but I suspect that all the people who have money to build these buildings and buy all these new trucks are also going to have enough money to buy state lawmakers. -
The air is cleaner because they drove all heavy manufacturing out of the state. Used to be auto plants and steel mills in California too. Hardly anything anymore.

The last WebEx I attended for Landstar was about CARB plus they had a CARB representative who said you will not be placed out of service if caught in California with a non complaint engine. You will be issued a fix it ticket that will carry a fine of somewhere between $500-$1,000.

There is also the 3 day pass option plus a low mileage pass also for those who only need to go into California once a year.

On everything, cars trucks, and probably most important industry. It all contributes, so it all helps..werewasi Thanks this.

And with industry gone, the only jobs left are the same jobs that people in the 3rd world countries have: Tourism, restaurants, motels, drugs and prostitution.
"Wait, its working. Maybe one day, we will actually be able to see blue sky!"
Keep hope alive while everything around you turns to 3rd world. Funny thing about drugs and prostitution...control it and you can become wealthy, even in a 3rd world country. -
Under what authority can they shut you down while engaging in interstate commerce, if everything else is legal except engine of truck, so far on other postings in another section nobody can show proof of citation for non compliant engine, all anybody has shown is smoke citation that has been around in CA for 10 years
I sure there is going to be law suits at some point about this
I don't intended to run there much maybe a few times a year, until I hear about mass shut downs of the 1000's of current non compliant trucks still running, I feel confident of running to CA when there is good paying inbound / outbound -
What do you mean by "cars off the road?" It is because of stringent emissions requirements on vehicles since the late 60's or early 70's. Remember cars used to not even have catalytic converters. They made it a federal requirement in the early 70's I believe. For me personally since I am a company driver I do not care about these new requirements. Let the company I will work for worry about having a compliant truck not my problem.
Also I don't know what you're talking about not seeing the blue sky in LA. I did many times. -
Do they ticket the company or the driver or both?
