Finally something positive.
I used to run a route that took me by here twice a week and let me tell you, their food is to die for. BBQ anyway you like and be sure to try the farm raised, fresh and corn fed catfish.
The girls usually have locally made pies, cakes or candies on the counter. Oh and try the fresh iced tea
The picture gallery of singers and stars can attest this is no rat hole and even personally met the singer Pink there, who loves the catfish herself.
Plenty of truck parking.

I heard that place was good. I spent the night at the rathole conoco up the road but was too tired to walk down to Nicks.
Lonewarrior Thanks this. -
Never have to walk pal, always plenty of room to park.
Old Nick(May he rest in peace) set it up like that, because drivers were always his prime customers, according to his grand daughter. -
I love good old southern redneck bbq. Nothing like it anywhere. I've had Nick's, there is a bit of parking there and the food. Oh. My. God. You rednecks know how to grill some meat, boy. We need to make a thread about all the bbq places to get a truck in.
Lonewarrior Thanks this. -
I just don't know how anyone can justify being a vegetarian when there are places like Nick's. it's almost anti-American. Lol.
Lonewarrior Thanks this. -
You're getting my tongue hard. Will try it out next time I'm up that way.

I'm packing my own bbq this trip. Grilled some pork country ribs and chicken thighs, basted them with sauce, then wrapped them in foil in serving portions then tossed them in our stand up freezer in the garage. Keep them in my truck fridge and warm them up on the 12volt Roadpro stove my wife got me for a gift.
I tell you, thaf freezer is worth its weight in gold. My dad bought it new in 1988 from Sears and it has run nearly continuously since then. Its the old style that has to be defrosted so no moving parts other than the compressor. I said it will probaby still be running when our 4 year old is married with children!Big Duker, joseph1135 and Lonewarrior Thank this. -
I do the same. Bought a pellet smoker last yr. I smoke chicken tenders with apple wood for hour or so then turn up and finish. Make 50=100 and vacuum seal them 5-10 per pack. Freeze and grab a couple of packs when I leave. Put in truck fridge and use with canned veggies, salad, sandwiches etc. Lot better and whole lot cheaper then truck stop food.
Lonewarrior and crb Thank this. -
If Nicks is the place that Im thinking about (Im sure that it is), it was good. Im not saying that I jumped up and down because it was so good, but I would sure stop again.
Ive stopped at so many BBQ joints and the Q was NASTY! In fact I just had what would be probably the worst last week when I stopped at some little BBQ trailer just south of Hot Springs, AR. Horrible! Another bad one that comes to mind is the guys on the CB at the Petro in N. Little Rock. Q was fair at best but the sauce in which the meat was drowned in tasted like Kraft. YUK!
A good one is in Jarrell, TX. There is a place called Riders BBQ that is on the corner behind the Pilot (or is it Flying J?) on I-35. You can park at the truckstop and walk. I have eaten there once but it was very good and WILL go back.Lonewarrior Thanks this.
