Well first off no one ever said that didn't happen, cause it can, just not very often. Seen pics of a guy who blew a tire and it took the other tire out on singles. He ruined a rim and needed 2 new tires. That would be like blowing 4 tires on duels... Haven't seen that happen yet, but its possible.

I never heard of the 3 strikes and your out deal but if you're limping down the side of the road to get out of traffic and a DOT/Trooper writes you up for it, they're an idiot! Myself, I will limp it as far as I can depending on the weight I have on. Being in a safe place to change a tire is more important to me.

Wonder how long of a vacation I would get after the 3 strikes... Gov't funded summer vacation...:biggrin_2559:

If they are trading you even up thats a pretty good deal. But check with someone who knows these wheels good to see if you need to have an off set rim or not. If you get the wrong one you will have bearing issues from what I understand.

Your thinking is correct unless you have horrible luck with the singles, that is why I would want to make more of a profit.

You guys blowing out drive tires must never check anything and run some real junk for tires because I have never blow out a drive tire on my truck.

You guys are worried about something that at least has never happened to me and with tire pressure sensors almost guarantees it will never happen.

I know I'm a little late to the party but here it goes,

I was at the Kentucky Louisville truck show in 2012, a huge vendor I think it was Walmart bought the first six months of production of these tires, They were the beta testers and they found these were the best fuel economy drive tires they ever tested, That's what Michelin told me because I could not get these tires for almost 9 months. X Multi Energy D tires

In reality no one always stays on paved/concrete surfaces that are regularly kept clean. Now claiming that "us guys" are running junk tires and never check them is just a ridiculous comment to say the least. When in fact you have no clue. The statement was made just to make yourself feel more superior, which was a fail...LOL. <<<<A mod can edit this out. I'm sure they will feel its an attack of some sorts...lol,

The reality of it is "us guys" go places, such as unpaved shipper/receivers....... shocker isn't it...?

I'm not going to sacrifice on road fuel economy for the 1% driving off road at shipper

There was more I posted last night but it got deleted for no reason. It was time to eat thats why I cut that post short.

I wasn't really talking about the 1% of the time you think you'll be at shippers, its more about going just about anywhere. All you have to do is just look at some of the truck stop parking lots, rest areas(which are kept clean for the most part), rough roads,....etc. Heck just running down the road and hitting a big pothole can break a belt in a tire, I've had it happen. Just last week went to a receivers to unload and sliced a tire. It's hard to explain but being I am anal about ruining a tire I watch everything extremely close and it still happened. Luckily it was on the lift and it was an old tire, but for someone with singles, it wouldn't be pretty! I only had to get one out of two tires to replace not one big expensive tire.

Oh and I ran that tire with the slice in it grossing over 100,000lbs at speeds up to 75mph. You wouldn't do that with a single.

Not only against the law, but only a fool would do something like that.
