So a preload from Corinne,ut? Six deliveries up and down the wasatch front. Where did you take ten? I got other things I should be doing but I like following some drivers in their adventures and you are local and you are still blogging why not interesting to me . Where's Utah Onion, hows the truck running,is the swift term still a pig sty? Been reading from the start, I might try to get back out there, Just sitting here getting fatter, I eat better but keep double crossing myself got to cut the carbs and calories, so if I get back out I'll just eat one side of the subway bun, Ha Good Afternoon
The start of my first year with Swift.

I had four stops in the SLC area. There were close together. Utah Onion is in Syracuse, UT. My truck is running great and I've had no real issues. It is starting to rattle apart inside the cab. The Swift terminal in Corinne is pretty nice. It's small, but clean. I'm sure the one in SLC is still nasty. It seems there's very few that aren't.
I made it to my last stop in Nampa, ID and I had an hour to spare. It was a drop and hook so it didn't take long at all. I had called ahead and they met me at the door. I was able to pull into the parking lot and shut down. My wife came and picked up me up and I spent the night at home. I'll be heading back to Corinne today and ready to roll again Monday morning early.fifthwheel07 Thanks this. -
I made it back to Corinne. I'm still trying to figure out how to game the system when it comes to my PTA. It seems like no matter when I get back from Boise I always end up sitting for almost 24 hours before I get another load. I had six hours of driving time left when I got back last night. All the loads had been planned already. I set my PTA for 0430 this morning thinking I might get lucky and at least catch some local stuff. I knew it was iffy as there were a lot of drivers waiting when I got here. The day planner got here and I talked to him at 0530 and got nothing. I'm guessing I'll be getting a load this afternoon and I'll drive all night. Not the best since I'll have been up all day. It's just a guess. I'll get it figured out...just about the time they take me off the surge..lol

Driving down 395 in Bishop, CA last night I had a lady step off the curb and run her hand down the side of my trailer. She was late teens, early twenties and thought it'd be a good idea. I was doing 25 thru town, couldn't move left. Coulda locked em up, but what good would that do? Scare her into tripping under my trailer?
Pretty stupid move if you ask me. Good way to lose a finger or 2. Or sever some nerves. We've all seen the trailers with forklift scars, heck, I've even been cut by sheet metal peeling off the sides of trailers before. I'm sure a finger wouldn't stand a chance after being wedged into a sheet metal crevice moving at 25mph.fifthwheel07 Thanks this. -

I'm spending the night in Mesquite, NV and it's hotter then south Texas right now. I'm sure it's just my being a big sissy and being used to the temps in UT and ID.
I got a call from the dispatcher around noon today. He said a load was coming down and he would give it to me. It hadn't hit the computer yet. I went in and got the paperwork, hooked up and by the time I hit the scale I had the dispatch. I made my stops and was pretty darned impressed with the Walmart in Mesquite. The gal running the show had everyone lined out. They all said they had nine minutes to unload the truck. That's any truck that hits the dock. They want you to have your lock off so they can break the seal and get working before you get in that door. I bet there was five of them shuttling pallets into the receiving area. The stop before had one lonely girl unloading.
I decided to spend the night here and stock up on groceries as I was running low. It's going to take me 6.5 hours to get back to Corinne and I can either start out from here and hunt for a spot to sleep when I run out of time OR stay here, get up that much earlier and still make it back at the same time. I'm staying put. I hope to get a load back to Boise tomorrow or Wed.fifthwheel07 Thanks this. -
I have family in mesquiete, so I shut down there as much as possible. There's a truckstop at the next exit north from the Walmart, $0.50 per hour to park, and there's two casinos right tjere along with a McDonald's.

Just watched a rig t-bone a 4wheeler in LA. He was driving down a main road, and decided that it was time for a u-turn. He swung all the way right and cut it sharp left. Out of no where... He was doing 8 or so mph. Hit an older Volvo. Totaled it. Here at SWIFT, that is an "unforgivable" accident that results in termination. Other "unforgivables" are accidents that happen while parked illegally. On/off ramps, no parking zones etc. roll overs are on that list along with u-turn accidents and a couple more that I can't think of off the top of my head.
DONT BE THAT GUY!!!!!! -
Left there this morning and made it back to Corinne. I only had a little over 4 hours of drive time left so no load for me. I did catch a load back to Boise so I can do a reset at home. I have 11 hours of time left on my 70 and nothing coming back to me on Thursday. I might as well sit at the house if I have to sit.
