Been doing some searching and found some older threads that seam to back up your statement. It seams like there is a lot of drivers complaining of being put on the platform often and held on the platform SPECIFICALLY when EMPTY.

All well...I guess I'll just keep my ducks in a row best I can and accept it for what it is...............or just go around them.:smt077

the reason they're pulling you in is to check your trucks credentials, that's why you sit on the static for so long.. when you're going down the highway the boom checks for a prepass, if you have a prepass it'll pull your credentials and time stamp your truck (so later when they do a DOT audit with your company they'll have records to compare to the drivers log books) while you're still on the insterstate.

It doesn't really check weight if you have a prepass, it's just comparing times, tag, and ifta. Now if you don't have a prepass, then you get pull'd in. And you're going to sit on the static so they can time stamp you and check your IFTA and tag, and weight.

And yes it's all because of your companies CSA score. My companies score is straight garbage and i have to sit on the static every time i'm in Florida. It's not such a big deal though, you can dodge every scale except the Inspection station on I95 coming in and going out. Well you can but it's some serious out of route miles to do so.

Oh and there's nothing you can do to get the by pass, driving slow wont help seeing as how the scales are calibrate at a specific speed (most likely the one post'd) and leaving big ole gaps wont do anything either seeing as how the system is automated. If a trooper isn't in the scale house and you make it to the second sensor before they choose which scale they want you on, it'll automatically give you the bypass instead of directing you to one of the two scales.

It happen'd to me once and as i was rolling down the bypass ramp the trooper went inside and gave me the red light and told me to circle back around onto the scale (i was bobtail!!!!) after that incident, i knew there was nothing i could do other then just sit on the static and LIKE IT!!

oh, and the DOT doesn't man the scales at night, they're civilian people and all they do is record information, (who's heavy).

It's the Yulee Inspection Station. Coming into Florida, the only way you can miss is (that i know of) is but jumping off on a two lane road back in Georgia, and working your way down to Baldwin, Fl. But every other scale is pretty simple to dodge seeing as how US1 runs the length of Florida. Just have to know when to hop on it and hop back off before you get to the wrong city with 32 traffic lights.

They are trying to inspect your truck without inspecting it. Basically a visual. Your company probably has had some faulty equipment in the past.

Why dont you park in the comfort station and walk in and ask why? If your doing something to trigger the constant stops they will tell you.Asking here is like asking what the powerball numbers are for next week. Im sure the others here would like to know what their response is.

Next time you get called in park and go inside to ask them....Ive never been too shy to question anyone. Just do it in a non confrotational manner.

You'd be surprised what people will tell you if you ask in a nice, just curious manner.
