That's what I was trying to do, but the school wants their money up front and I just can't afford it.. I just recenlty found out that I am elegible for a State Training Fund to pay for the whole thing. Let the jumping through hoops commence..

~$1400...my bank helped me out (took out a low interest loan). Still in CDL school so I couldn't tell you how much I'm going to make.

I got my CDL again (after letting it lapse due to not driving truck for the last 30 years) without going through a school, using my brother's truck for training and taking the test. Total cost, including medical card, about $500 (I paid the fuel for training). If you hook up with a trucker that wants to hire a co-driver you might find a similar deal. Having a school diploma isn't a requirement to get a CDL. I met folks waiting to take the driving test who were doing the entire thing on their own, and renting one of those "CDL in a Day" trucks.

Very tough to get a job with that kind of "self" training these days..Insurance companies rule the trucking world so most of them require some sort of schooling..

I think I paid $5,800 over 20 years ago. It was a loan. I think interest free. I paid it off quickly. I didn't make much money. I remember seeing $500/$600 weekly gross. I didn't have nothing to spend money on though.

DEKALB TECHNICAL COLLEGE in GA. GREAT PLACE! Applied for Hope Grants and it cost me $100.00 (including books, DOT physical, tests, everything). :yes2557: 3 month program. Very thorough, great instructors, lots and lots of practice and training. Lots of recruiters visited company... They are soooo good that now they have people on a waiting list for their CDL program. First year at a mega carrier I made about $ 35,000.00.
